Hi there, I'm Shawn :)

Gave up fags some 20 months ago, fit as a fiddle now. Run to work everyday! Saved my life it did, so any heavy legislation can kiss my shiny.

I'm here today for some advice but noticed I can only post in Welcome for the first few parts, but I'll ask anyway then maybe see this thread moved to an appropriate subforum.

My friend is all but blind. He has terrible trouble with the usual screw on tanks and has ruined his new ileaf and an Aspire. He keeps screwing them together at an angle, even a light angle grinds down the threads eventually, and he can't afford to keep replacing the expensive batteries.
Is there a 'snap-on' type version out there? Surely the Americans make something, they do all the modding stuff.
Any ideas, alternatives and suggestions very welcome. I don't want to see him chocking on smokes again.

Also, even I have ruined a spinner 2. What is it with this monkey metal crap! Why isn't another system obviously available?

Welcome. I know of no such "snap-on" Devices. But there are too many Devices and Designs out there to be aware of them all. Others will chime in I'm sure.
I, although I have my Vision, normally screw things together by Feel more than sight. Actually hardly ever look as the Eyes can and do deceive (especially with smaller fine threaded things) but Touch and Feel do not. At least for me. Always been like that.
Hope your Friend finds either a Device that will suit or finds a way to deal with those available as they are.

I know of no such devices. You are correct this is an equipment hole needing repair. Honestly, I never thought of vision impaired access, and I use a lighted magnifier for small work like coil building myself. One option would be a "hybrid" type box mod using a dripper. With a hybrid, the atty need not be removed, and a box mod usually uses a door rather than threads for batteries. He'd still have to get somebody to build the atty for him, but that doesn't have to be done every day. Dripping might be an issue, but putting the bottle tip in the drip tip can be done by feel. Practice would determine the squeeze. Best I can do off the top of my head, and it might have to be custom modded for him.

Edit: look at a Reo. He might find a squonk box useful. You could fill the bottles by touch, I think. He'd still need somebody to build the atty.

Hi @shawnlee and welcome to ECF!

One thing you might try is to get a 510-510 adapter. That way, he'd be sacrificing the adapter's threads instead of the threads on the battery.

Hope it helps and Happy Vaping!

[QUOTE="hmar, post: 16117662, member: 204438"I havent tried it, its proprietary and not cheap, but the v2cigs v2pro-series get good reviews, and look like they might be some kind of snap or slide on.[/QUOTE]
Your right, they do! The v2 pro series, that is. The only part you have to screw on is the drip tip to the tank. The tanks then, just slide in and "click" in with a magnet. You won't have to worry about damaging the battery. The charger also is a magnet.

Don't know why the quote thing didn't work.

Ditto on your remark about legislation! My heart sank on hearing about ruining the iStick and tank o_O

That's exactly what came to mind with me as well! I use the 510-510 ego adapter on my iStick. I have arthritis and short fat fingers don't help much when trying to screw a tank into those little holes. These types of adapters usually come with an iStick or they are easily found on some vendor's sites.

I'm a little surprised too that there hasn't been some kind of "latch" or snap-together standard evolved... Best bet I would think would be to steer towards something that's known for indestructible threads - which fortunately, tends to come on pretty good gear, too.
Possibilities - a Reo, or a ProVari.
ProVari's are selling for LOW prices in the classifieds lately - if he's OK with lower watts, it's still a killer device that'll take a beating.
