Hi I'm new to this forum.
I'm looking for some advice about my smok stick x8 and my smok brit one mega kit.
Welcome and glad you joined.
If you like your vape gear and have no complaints about it, then it is the perfect kit for you. However, if you find you do not like any aspect, I'm sure someone will be pleased to help guide you to a better vaping solution. The main thing to remember is, part of vaping is all about you the vaper, being in control and the freedom to fix/tailor any aspect of vaping you feel you need to improve upon. You are in control.

limited to tank size by the EU laws
You mean by UK laws, the TPD2 actually doesn't regulate tank size, individual member states do that. Eg here you can sell a 5L bucket with a 510 thread as an atomizer and nobody would care (several other member states also don't care about tank size).

And welcome, gilly ;)

Hi Untar
I'm a little confused.
I'm from the UK and I was under the impression that the 2ml tank size was an EU regulation.
Then I read this only applies to disposable e-cig or cartridge.
So is this yet another example of the British government gold plating EU regulation?
Or are we just miss- interpreting the regulation.

This is from the TPD directive.

I know that directive and read it multiple times. Thing is that sentence can be interpreted in different ways and in practice it is. Different countries have adopted different interpretations. You live in a country that took that sentence to mean all tanks must be max 2ml. I live in one where the 2ml don't apply to refillable tanks.

Where it breaks down is that "tank" isn't defined properly in the TPD2 text (afaik).

Here's the relevant original text from the German law they made to implement the TPD2 directive
and my translation
"If disposable e cigarettes and refillable tanks as well as single use cartridges are sold with eliquid containing nicotine they shall not exceed 2ml of capacity. This limit does not apply to refillable tanks sold without eliquid containing nicotine."

So in a sense I was wrong (the definition of tank doesn't seem to matter), the important factor in Germany is if the tank/cartridge was sold with nic liquid. If it's sold empty there is no volume limit here (as there isn't in several other countries as well).

In the end it was the UKs law that limited tank size to 2ml, not the directive itself.
