Hidy all!
been skimming the site for a few months now, but only seriously digging in for about a month.

Long haul truck driver to USA 49 states and Canada. This bears consideration on my choices as I've limited space, can't order much shipped as I seldom know where I'll be save for once a moth home time at best.

I can't deal with short battery life as I may at any time be barred from my truck on sensitive loads on a whim. Battery life is a primary factor.

Don't want an analog look alike. The less like a cigarette, the better.

No led "indicator"

I like the idea of a button over self activated. But not carved in stone.

Ease of maintenance.

I also wonder as to what spares would be best carried. Price and ease matter here towards choice.

Ok, there's that.

I'm Frank, old fart, married man with grown kids and grandpaw as well.
Nearly lost my wife the last week of November, to what we now know is asbestos poisoning (oil refinery for many years). I gave up smoking then and there, but was already vaping here and there with disposables.

Now looking for the best setup I can determine for my situation and style.

I was looking into the 510, but way too short on battery charge.
Starting to look into the ego and getting lost in ego x, ego y, ego z, etc.

Again, wouldn't bother me if it looked like a pen, cellphone or horseshoe, just not an analog.

Then comes the liquid storage questions. Though I don't have a base yet for mixes or flavors, I am curious as to worst case 2 month supply.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling post. Back to data mining ecf :)

Without one in front of me to visualize this and that, it's all starting to run together.

Have a good'n,
Frank

Welcome from one Freak to another.

Looks like you've got a good grasp of what things are, but I think you're right about the not having one in front of you part. I really feel that it's important to get started, and it doesn't really matter what you start with. Most likely, you will be moving to something else soon, so the cheaper (quality though) device the better. Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510 $30 + $3 shipping. Shop for a few different juice flavors (get 4 or 5 and make sure you've got 30ml+) and you're good to get started and help put the pieces and learning together.

Anyway, I'm a little sick, so pardon my rambling/run-ons too. Again, welcome!

See, I already left a few things out. I forgot to say that there is an LED on the button, but it's not too bright or anything. And that there is really no way that I know of for getting around the shipping. Where will you be in the next three days?

And even more! You have to click on the 20% off button at the top of the page to get the $30 price.

Good Lord! Somebody else give this guy a hand before I scare him away!

The reason that I'm asking is because there are a lot of good suppliers here who have physical stores, or at least could meet you if you are going by them. I'm sure you could stop for a few minutes and sample their wares and pick up a great device. There are suppliers in PA, AZ, CA . . .

@swedishfish . . . thx for the get well . . . although the thought of swedish fish just made me cringe -> sinus/chest thing and the gummy . . . yechk.

As to shipping, I can ship to home and pick up there. The shipping concern is in making sure I have enough of this and that to keep me on the road for a minimum of a month.

As to daily time for doing things, I have a maximum of 14 hours that Uncle Sam will let me work in a day. The rest is filled with a few hours sleep and a few hours boredom.

Thanks all so far and get better "other Freaky". Lol

LED issue isn't "that" big of a deal. I just don't like the glare back at me in the dirty windshield with these disposable clinkers.

Then, honestly . . . I would grab a Riva. Mine were great to begin with. I use mods now, and prefer 5 volts, but that is a good starting point. The batteries should give you an entire day each in the beginning, and they are easy to use and will get you going for a more budget price . . . just so you don't have to eat so much up front if you do decide to move on to something else.

If you don't mind spending a little more . . . you will want to add a few cartomizers and a drip tip to your order, just so you can try what people are talking about and get a feel for what you like the best. It's not all that hard to understand once you have the bits and pieces to fiddle with.

Size difference between GLV mod and an eGo (Riva) . . . a standard one would be shorter by about the width of one of those caps:

GLV and an Infinity - 5volt mod and a variable-volt mod:

I'm a small guy (5' 7"):

3.7V Bottomfeeder, so you have a 3ml bottle full of juice inside, 1 of the 14500 batteries that will last you for many hours, and with a LR510(low resistance) on it, this will vape like a big boy PV for hours. Just have another battery and maybe another filled 3ml bottle on hand and you won't have need for anything else for a good long time.

I asked him to NOT put the led light in it. It comes with a lanyard that I keep around my neck, so you can let go at any time and it is still with you. I used to drive too, so I understand the need for both hands at times.
For the price, you can't hardly go wrong. I bought 2 and sent one to a buddy in Kandahar. In spite of all the action they get themselves into, it is still going strong.
I do not think you would be disappointed.

Hey welcome. Wish you luck. My recommendation is to start off with a quality Mod over $125. Too many people upgrade and upgrade and upgrade and end up spending a lot more than just buying an Omega or Provari from day one. What good is it to have 5 e-cigs you bought but you are are vaping the last one. In the long run it cost more money.

Having a spare PV is an excellent idea. I've seen those $$$ pv's go belly up cuz they are not mechanical and then where are you?

I agree 100%, keep a spare rig or two and you don't have to worry about it if one does go belly up. I may have spent some extra $$$ on a couple of units I'm not using right now, but they're there if I need them. Besides how many nuB's want to spend $150 or more on a Provari when they aren't sure vaping is right for them yet?

Thanks for all the good info! The more I read, the more I think starting from scratch and something like the bottom feeder (many thanks) and a couple spare vaporizers would be the way to go. Wouldn't be in too deep as a start, and looks to suit my needs and wants perfectly.

Is there any brand or such preferred on the vaporizers? (LR 510) or other needed bits for a startup?

Then comes the liquid. I'll have to figure that one for myself I suppose, but happy to hear base suggestions. As a smoker (pipe) I was huge on black vanilla cav.

Thanks again!
Frank
