Hey Guys,

I have a question in regards to batteries. I'll use the 18650 LG 18650HE4 2500mAh as an example. There are listings for it as just 18650 LG 18650HE4 2500mAh and then listings as 18650 LG 18650HE4 2500mAh High Discharge.

Are they one in the same, or are they actually different? The model name is exactly the same so I would think they are the same and I can't find anything different in the specs/descriptions.

Can anyone speak on this?

Thanks,

Ghostin

Just vendor advertizing hype, which can be somewhat "overly enthusiastic"... depending on how honest the vendor and/or distributor chooses to be. ;-)

Truthful listings of the HE4 should include both discharge value ratings, as follows.

Maximum continuous current discharge: 20A
Maximum current discharge: 35A

A (very) quick bit of research indicates that... some vendors are listing the "35a maximum discharge" value only, and conveniently leaving out the 20a continuous part... or just flat lying all together, stating: "Continuous Max. Discharge Rate: 35A".

Although I haven't been able to confirm this estimation... reading the LG test data (page 5)... one can extrapolate (falling in between their "45A, 5sec -30A, 6sec ") that the 35a maximum safe discharge is for a period of 5-6 seconds.

Thanks for the info. So I'm going with the 18650 Samsung INR18650-25R 2500mAh Flat Top. So the ones that don't say "High Discharge/Drain" it actually is, correct?

Just for clarification. There is no difference, other than one vendor chooses to add "High Discharge/Drain" while the other doesn't, correct?

Assuming they are genuine batteries that would be correct. The only way to know that is to buy them from a known, legitimate supplier. And that eliminates about 95% of eBay and Amazon listings.
