I'm relatively new to vaping, it's been around 2 months now. I actually quit smoking for about 2 months prior to vaping, but quickly decided I needed something to take the edge off. Now I have a new addiction and I don't plan on quitting vaping anytime soon :D
Anyway, I've ordered a couple of V4L batteries (the clearance batteries, an XL and a Shorty, both autos) The shorty works like a charm, I always get exactly what I expect off of a drag, but the XL is iffy. Sometimes it won't come on unless I lightly tap it on something... like the sensor is sticky, but it has done this since day one and I don't drip, so it CAN'T be dirty?

I'm looking for the most consistent, best quality 808D-1 batteries you can find online. I REALLY love the V4L stuff, but at almost $20 a pop, I want something I can rely on. It scares me to go out with only this XL batt bc I just know it's going to die on me :(

Bloog maxxfusion seems to be a good one !

It's certainly the one with the strongest following. I read a thread where some other vendors were coming out with batteries that had the same specs. Those that had used both didn't see a difference. I'm not sure where to get them though.

I broke down and just tried the steel wool trick on the threads... I thought that was an issue with the newer batts, but apparently it was the older models (which I have) It was just a few quick swipes, took it outside and works just as good as the shorty! There were some burrs around the air holes below the threads and I think it was creating a gap, therefore a little to airy and wasn't drawing hard enough through the batt itself. I've even heard it whistle before! But, it's working fine now or seems to!

I definitely want to try a bloog! Is the MaxxFusion compatible with V4L cartos and the USB charger? I've also heard that CigEasy batts are decent quality as well

I use a PigCig for my kr808 stuff usually. I still have an auto battery laying around because the CE2's I picked up don't fit onto the pigcig for some reason, but all my V4L cartos fit just fine and work great. I charge it up every night and the thing has never run out of juice on me. The first one I got did die on me about a week and a half or so, it just quit working. But the folks at LeCig got a replacement out to me pronto and the replacement has been working great. imho if you know you're sticking with kr808 it's a pretty good investment.

Is the MaxxFusion compatible with V4L cartos and the USB charger?

The maxxfusion battery will charge on a V4L charger, but may not communicate correctly with it. What do I mean by that? The LED may not behave like it is supposed to (to indicate a full charge) but it does charge.

As for the carto compatibility, well... Yes, the V4L cartos should work, but you might do yourself a favor and try some horizontal coil cartos (ala bloog or nhaler drippers). In my opinion there is no contest as far as performance goes, the horizontals win hands down. The problem with horizontals is that sometimes a freshly charged VK batt (at 4.2 volts) will be a little too much for some of the horizontal coil cartos (perhaps those at the lower end of the allowable ohms range), and you'll burn your juice (doesn't taste very good). The bloog batteries (like nhaler's "MF" style batts, and the smokelessimage volt batteries) put out a constant 3.6v, which alleviates the juice burning issue.
My remedy? Well, I love the horizontal coil cartos, and I love my 4.2v VK. So, I fill a carto and try it on the VK, if it's a carto that can't handle the 4.2v I set it aside for use with my Bloog batt (or any batt that runs at a constant 3.6v, like the volt or nhaler "mf style" batt). Works like a charm.

I should mention, however, that the new V2 bloog maxxfusion cartomizers are in stock (only the blanks are v2 at the moment). The enhancement to the version 2's were designed to allow for better wicking of thicker (vg) juices by incorporating a thicker (5 strand vs. 4 strand wick), ans well as a repositioned coil, which may accomodate the higher voltage batteries (like v4l's vapor king). I don't know that these revisions will allow for every carto to work flawlessly at 4.2v every time, though. I haven't used any v2's yet to find out, nor have I seen any reviews on them yet, but I look forward to trying them.
