Not really. Pull old wick out, thread new wick into coil, wet with juice and you're good to go! After pulling the old wick out you can dry burn if the coil looks gooey but otherwise you just put a new wick in. But I use this PT1 all day and go through many tanks full until I have to re-wick. The coil lasts through all of this abuse.
oh ok that doesn't sound too bad. and with the PT you dont have to empty the tank to change out the wick...right? this seems to me a huge advantage over the iClears Ive been using. i like everything about the PT better. so when re-doing wicks and coils do you just use the same PT head over and over again? and if coils last that long and cotton balls are what you're getting the wick from, this must be much cheaper eh? (though stock coils seem pretty cheap to begin with but not THAT cheap)
sorry to double post but, as a newbie starter step, can I just put a cotton wick in the stock coil to see how I do with that? and if so how will that change the vape--I'm guessing improve it but not nearly as much

Thoughts/ Tasting notes: Holy shades of Welch's! This is grape alright. Not an over powering grape but, a nice and mellow grape that kind of sneaks up and grabs you by the ears and then gives you a warm hug. My first grape vape anything was "Home Slice" and this is the grape from that with that pure and clean grape jelly flavor. I had not had peanut butter and grape nor grape jelly since I was a wee'in. Between the two I did not realize what I had been missing and in fact now have a jar of Welch's in the cupboard right next to the PB.
As a side note, the LP mini can suck up the 3ml bottle capacity pretty fast so I topped up the GA and added a splash of the Frenilla Blend All. All I can say is " OH Baby! Where have you been all of my life!" It adds a subtle creaminess to the mix that has to be experienced to be believed . This blend was just added to the "must haves" on the blend list. My only big question is, Will Clark n Katy ever come out with a juice that just doesn't hit for me? So far, they are batting a thousand! Grap3 Ap3 is defiantly Distorto approved!

Exactly, just turn it upside down, unscrew the bottom, partially unscrew the head, pop off the chimney, twist the head the rest of the way out, and swap that wick out! And the flavor is so much better than stock coils and 100 times better than top wick clearos!
You can try but those coils are not like my coils, you'll see, go ahead and try!
Even if using the stock PT coils rewicking them with organic or sterile cotton makes a big difference. I'll run the stock coils once before rebuilding them and I always rewick before firing them up.

I built my first proper microcoil in the Russian 91 this morning! Granted I sat on my .... and watched 20 YouTube videos beforehand, but it wasn't bad at all! I'd take a photo, but the tank is filled with juice... Pretty painless though, even fun! I'd encourage you to try, granted your eyes and fingers are still somewhat in-tact. I can't see myself ever buying anything but spools of Kanthal wire again when it comes to this stuff... Just be sure to check your ohms!
Congrats man! I'm going to try cotton wick on PT coil tomorrow or Monday - and rebuilding coils within a week or so. It's exciting to think about and sounds fun, just intimidating - i'm horrible at stuff like this, or at least have a slow learning curve. thanks for the tips all! does cotton produce more vapor or is that the same?
Try for your ohms to be around 1.3 or so and the vapor and flavor will be outstanding!!
I've been using KGD cotton on my own coils at about 1.2 - 1.3 ohms for a couple of weeks. I knew they had a lot better flavor and a little more vapor but didn't realize how much. Today, after two tanks BOTH decided to leak, I pulled out a new CE4 clearomizer (I think, I didn't buy it), filled it up with Betelguese, and I couldn't believe how bad that silica wick tasted to me. Night and day. For a while, I thought it was either PG or VG I was tasting that didn't agree with me but it was the wick and the stock coil combo doing it.

For me, the vapor production has been the same on the Russian as I had on the Nautilus... But the pull and the flavor is much, much better. And no more burnt, nasty hits! No more buying 3 dollar bad heads either. So I'm in contented vape heaven... For now.

Honestly, I personally think it's head and shoulders above Gravity.. although that's like comparing grapes to oranges I guess I'm a grape fan to begin with (not much of a fruit vaper in general though) but I've been dripping this stuff since the mail man came today and would like to continue dripping it for quite a while .6 ohm dual micro coil, I'm tasting a delicious juicy juice/ Welch's grape juice, grape big league chew, and grape jolly rancher combo, among other notes. Really strong juicy grape flavor but far from too much, or being too overpowering. Not artificial/perfumey AT ALL if you're worried about that. This is about as complex as a "plain" fruit flavor could get. I'll be ordering more with my Frenilla order if it's still around on Tuesday. Speaking of which, I have yet to try mixing the two, but I should probably try that now, huh?

that's part of the fun, tearing down the head and throwing out the trash kanger puts in there lol..the funny thing is you don't realize its trash until you finally rebuild one yourself(Re-builds even brand new heads without using them first....)
