Hi all!
I've been vaping for a long time. Like, as soon as e-cigs came on to the market, I was on board and have tried a number of different kinds over the years. Despite this, I have focused more on the flavors and quality of e-Juice but am pretty ignorant of the equipment. The site suggested I write a post to "introduce myself" so I'm including information I wouldn't otherwise so please excuse the length of the post, I don't want to seem rude. I used to be a chain smoker so have always tended to go for models that are most like holding a cigarette however, in my experience, most are poorly made (or those cheap pos (surprisingly pricey considering it's basically just hot air) things at convenience stores that have, like, no nicotine). The things like the Spinner III S are good for the price, when they work, but I had to return over half of the ones I ordered because they just didn't work. When they work, they're great and easy to use for people who are vaping for nicotine and they have voltage adjusters. Since I chain vape now (instead of chain smoke) I like the amount of heat control voltage adjusters offer because otherwise the coils will burn or the liquid gets so hot it boils up and burns my tongue. However a while ago I got a few Triton minis which I love and haven't bothered with the spinners any more. The websites and stores were always super cool about replacing the faulty spinners but, like, it was a huge pain. The triton minis, also, like most, have voltage adjusters so, again, no problems
This week though, there was a great sale on one of my favorite equipment websites for the Aspire pockeX. Like, under $10. Having been happy with Aspire products in the past, I thought it would be nice to have at least one cigarette-like vape device again. At any rate, I got the PockeX today and it seems to work great. It charged quickly and everything about how to use it is pretty straightforward. Additionally, the flavor of the e-juice is really clean so, I would be totally ecstatic and buying a crate of these things before the sale disappears except for one little thing:
In my excitement at getting such a great deal, I failed to notice that the PockeX does NOT have a voltage adjuster. I burned my tongue with the first drag. Is there a fix for adjusting the heat on this product? As I said, despite using many different vape devices I don't actually know that much about the equipment itself. I mean, using these devices is usually pretty straightforward regardless of shape or size or anything so as long as it works, I'm happy. This means, though, that I know next to nothing about coils or what effect different numbered coils have or what the numbers even mean. So, I'm wondering if someone could tell me if a different coil could help resolve this issue. Other than burning myself, as I said, I'm really happy with the product and for people who care more about billowing clouds than nicotine, I'd say this is probably one of the more affordable beginner's devices out there. The clouds are pretty impressive compared to a lot of the other vape pens and mod thingys and whatnot I've had before. *lol* Thank you for any help or advice you might have. I'd rather ask you guys, as users, than people at a store because, in my experience, when people are avid users of something, they often have tricks they've discovered on their own and are often, on average, more knowledgeable in general about any given product than the people who sell them. So, thanks again in advance! Happy vaping everyone!

If the device has no power output control, adjustment of the vape temperature can be done by changing the resistance of the coil. If the tank is a "drop in" coil tank, then your are limited to the range of coil resistances they provide. If they only provide one, then it is what it is unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure I can get coils with a couple different resistance levels but I don't know whether I want a higher or lower number and, if a different coil will help, why? Like, I know there are different numbers (I know sound dumb, I'm really ignorant about this specific thing but, like, if we were talking about music or European history I'd sound like a reasonably intelligent person *lol*) I'm trying to learn from scratch here so just assume I know absolutely nothing. mean, I barely know the terms here. It's sad. I'm trying though and considering how much I vape it's really something I need to learn *lol* Thank you so much for answering btw! That's awesome of you :) Oh, here are the coil options: Coil Resistance: 0.5Ω -2.0Ω

Welcome to the forum.

Hmmm I checked multiple vendor sites and they all listed one and only one coil replacement option for the Aspire Pockex: 0.6 ohm. Where/who is showing multiple coil options?

Pockex and Nautilus X use the same physical coil design. The X has 1.5 and 1.8 Ohm options. I don't know how well they'd work though.

Thank you for being so welcoming, all of you. One never knows about forums *lol* It's actually not on a vendor site. It's listed in the directions I found a pdf version online of the exact booklet that came with the set and will attempt to attach it here... (I will try to crop this but if not, the english version is on the top right) ok, the file is too large as a pdf but here is the url from the Aspire site which is the page with the user manual. http://www.aspirecig.com/uploads/pdf/PockeX_User_Manual.pdf

Yeah, the design is completely different than other coils I have used before. t's much larger than the ones I have for the triton mini though those coils are much small and a different design. Like, I haven't seen another coil that looks like the ones this uses used with anything else. It doesn't mean they are entirely unique, it's just a design I'm not familiar with. So what do the 1.5 & 1.8 Ohm mean? Like, what is an Ohm and how do they differ? Is there any reason a smaller or larger Ohm would be warmer? Is this a science class I missed or is it specific to vaping?

"Lower Ohm coils:
Creates more heat at the coil which in turn can create more vapor
Provides warmer vapor
Will drain the battery faster
May cause dry hits (burning)
May cause premature battery failure
Uses more liquid

Standard or "higher" Ohm coils:
Creates less heat at the coil which can create "less" vapor.
Provides cooler vapor
Will drain the battery slower
Uses less liquid

Subohms is an ohms rating below 1.0, these ohms create high heat and loads of vapor."

oops, the url was edited out, I apologize if posting a URL is against policy. the point was though that those coil options are listed on the directions themselves, not on a vendor site so I figure they're legit, right? Like, I don't know if they're available or not but the manufacturer says they'll work. So if I can get them, what effect would a different ohm have on the temperature of the device?

Ahhhhhh.... ok. So if I find a coil with a higher Ohm that may resolve my issue. Thank you! It's DEFINITELY worth a try (as I dislike burning my tongue with e-juice) Thank you!!!!!!!!! :D

Hi and welcome,
You can find the 1.5Ω and 1.8Ω coils HERE
I would suggest the 1.5Ω version, but a few of both (1.5/1.8) to find your sweet spot is a worthwhile investment.

Sweet! Thank you so much!!!! I will definitely get some of each. I like keeping a good stock of coils for my different devices because I learned the hard way, a few years ago, the misery of running out. I didn't, however, want to stock up until I knew which ones to get to resolve the heat issue (if one would at all, that was just a guess on my part due to it being the only real choice one needs to make other than e-juice. Thx!!!!! :)

Hi
I've got one of those.
Yeah they do get a little hot with constant use.
When you first fill it there always seems to be a little gurgling. I find holding it by the base and giving it a downward shake clears the problem.
Hot juice in your mouth is best avoided,
as the actress said to the bishop.
At 10 bucks a pop you're getting a good deal.
As long as it's screwed up tightly the thing hardly ever leaks even upside down in my pocket.
