You walked through the right door this time. If you are looking for consistent flavor each and every hit the LP Grand and LP RM2 will sure enough get you there and back and give you room to grow.

There are plenty of pic, videos, and free advice around here so do not hesitate to ask about any questions you have.

Rob said he would have his inventory sorted in a few days and then you will be ready to roll with the latest and greatest version of the REO grand. It will be well worth the wait.

Congrats on giving vaping another chance and hope you have success this time around. :vapor: :vapor: :vapor:

Oh! Since you're an engineer-y kinda guy take a look here at the technical differences between the atomizer Rob sells. ~> http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...hysical-comparison-chart-rm2-rm3-rm4-rm5.html

For openers you can't go wrong though with a KISS approach and an RM2. ;)

Yeah, simple. And then: my back ground is electronics and electric so when faced with a question such as what is the relationship between an atomizer and the the things we want it to do, for me namely deliver good flavor in a consistent manner, I am a bit lost. When I Iook at that spec comparison page the things that jump out at me are volume (pressure?) and heat (multiple coils?).

You walked through the right door this time...

As a general rule of thumb, smaller chamber attys tend to give better flavor, and more heat (like you mentioned, dual coils) more vapor.

Within those paramaters, though, are all sorts of tweaks that affect both amount and thickness of vapor, flavor and throat hit. Trouble is, there are nuances to each design of atomizer. That's one reason the RM2 is so highly recommended. It's been around a long time and used by probably hundreds of us, so it's individual quirks are well known and we can most likely help you get to your "sweet spot" pretty quickly.

As SXD mentioned, if you find yourself then interested in exploring dual coils and DTL hits (as I have in the last week), there's a wealth of knowledgeable folks in that arena too.

^^^ What he said.

That's the gist of it. If you start small with an RM2 it's really hard to be disappointed with it. And unless you know out the gate you won't be satisfied unless you are getting the biggest clouds possible, heading right for something like a dual coil only setup might be a mistake, or at least more than you want to take on with your first RDA.

It's easy to tweak an RM2 up to get a good vape. But if a dual coil is just "more" than you want or need in vapor production or heat (or fuss factor), it's a lot harder to dumb that down, if at all.

I am very interested in the method displayed in your avatar. Is that DTE? Direct To Ear? And how does that work?

I prefer to be a little more stealth when vaping I think. Education aside, it seems to breed some negative attitudes when people see some guy on the corner blowing out huge clouds of vapor. Cigarettes smell but they are often not visible. Being highly visible is not necessarily a good thing in the current environment with the regulatory hammer poised above the communities head? Meh, I am a n00b in anycase...

LOL Yes, DTE (Direct to Ear, a result of some "minor surgery" I had years ago ;) )

I agree with you on the clouds and perceptions of people around you, however, I'm retired and rarely leave my own house. When I *do* go out, I normally only vape inside my own vehicle.

Even though that's the case now, it was also true over the past year when I was using the RM2, which, admittedly, didn't produce as much vapor as my dual coil Odin. Although it *does* produce a respectable cloud when you want it to.

Holla Reonistas, newly recruited comrade Hafaza here with a couple of start up questions. It is my third time at bat in the vaping game and I am hoping to hit a home run this time, though sadly I fear it is the ninth inning for me. First game I came to play with a standard eGo/cartomizer and did well enough till meh juice vanished and I retreated to the cowboy killers. Second game I came more prepared with a ProTank3/Vision Spinner but it let me down with highly inconsistent performance and I retreated once again to the cowboy killers.

Advice from a stranger got me to these forums and I have approached the vape problem a bit more analytically this time. An electrical engineer by trade, I decided that this time around I needed to remove as much complexity from the system as possible to arrive at a consistent base line. Dripping seemed the way to go, but for any number of reasons from fumbling with bottles at awkward moments to complex variable batteries, etc, I discounted that as an option. I needed simpler still. The Reo seems like the simplest (relative) system I have seen and many have pointed me here. So, before I slap my credit card down, perhaps y’all could give a tiny bit of guidance.

The mod itself I guess will be a ReoGrand LP. Seems the most sensible way to go. I assume one should order spare parts with the original order? Few extra springs? Few extra bottles and tubes? Any advice of a good basic list for a first order?

RBA. No idea which one might be good to start with, besides it being the LP modded version. I have never rebuilt a coil for vaping, but due to work I seem to have grown an extra appendage that looks and functions like a Fluke 87-V. Yeah, weird right? So, could you give some guidance on which RBA would be good? Functionality highly desired with emphasis on flavor and consistency.

Thanks…

congrats on your journey here! The hunt is over :)

You've got ALL KINDS of fun coming - your first REO and delving into DIY liquid, too?

2 of my best decisions: love my REO, and my very favorite e-liquid costs me about $0.05/ml to make...

My only additional comment - I've been really happy with these Samsung 25-R batteries...
Oh, and the only extras I ordered with my Reo were a backup spring and a couple of the O-rings you can use under the Atty - it gives you a little "play" in where the atty lands, so you can aim the airhole where you want it.

Thanks! Just out of curiosity, I rebuilt the coils in my Kanger PT3 today since there was some spare A1 sitting around. It still was awful.

PT3 is to RM2 as canned salmon is to sashimi.

I know I am lacking in experience, but at this point the PT3 is not even canned salmon. More like canned salmon poo.

I am just going to cease all attempts at vaping until a Reo comes in and I can start a base line with the enormous knowledge bank here. Have some ideas I am building on that perhaps might be useful in another thread when it comes to that.
