I am a hookah addict.
I can't smoke cigs because I have asthma and it hurts too much.
Hookah is awesome for me because it's social and I get awesome flavor.
Obviously, there are bad things about it (coals, nicotine, etc.), and so my friends and I are curious about this whole e-cig revolution.

I do a lot of research into subjects and found that the setup that is most appealing to me so far is the Provari V2, standard batteries (unless the upgrade is highly recommended), and the upgraded charger.

Accessories I'd like to buy are the Phiniac clear regular sized tank and assorted flavors. However, I am lost when it comes to attys and cartos (dual vs. single, brands, with or without hole punched, sizes etc.).

I am looking for the least hassle, most smoke and best flavor with NO nicotine... basically, I don't need to REPLACE my hookah, but I would at least like to cut down. Any information would greatly help. I am living back at home after college and my parents hated it when I hookah'd with friends. Plus, I can't smoke a whole bowl bymyself at home, so I'm looking for a safer alternative (coals and carpet don't match ... trust me).

thanks ahead of time to whoever can give me some insight. This is still pretty new stuff to me, and I don't know anyone into it, so I can't ask to try. It's kind of scary to drop $2-300 on something I haven't even tried, so if any of you have hookahs and know what I'm trying to achieve, maybe you can help me out...or tell me that what I'm looking for can't be found in vap.

Where you least expect it....
If you like using Hookas then your gonna love vaping. The choices that you have mentioned are great. It is recommended that you start off with something a bit more simple in design. I would suggest doing a bit more research before making your decision. If you do end up getting a Provari. Then a single coil 3 ohm carto would be the best for that application.

Do brands of cartos matter or are there different types? If I am to understand, I do need them to be punched if I want to use a tank...
And, is there something "cheap and dirty" so to speak that I can buy from a local store here in Los Angeles, to see if I will like e-ci type of devices? I've heard some people have allergies or adverse reactions to VGs? or something like that, so I want to see if that will hinder me. It's not that I have a bunch of money to jump into the Provari, but I don't like being cheap and then having to buy the more expensive thing later.

For example, I had 2-3 hookahs that were in my budget, that all rusted away / stink... so now I have my big black pearl Egyptian KM with a Nammor hose... which ended up only costing me around $150 for a top-notch session.

The Provari is a top of the line device. I see more people having a problem with PG than VG as far as allergies go, but regular cigarettes also have PG in them. If you go with a Provari, get a 3Ω carto or atty and you should be fine because you can vape at higher voltages. You can also get a great lower voltage alternative by visiting Smokelessimage and buying one of their larger batteries and some of their clearomizers. A lot of people might try to steer you towards higher voltages, but in the end you want a satisfying vape. It is your choice. Good luck and Welcome! :)

Welcome , but you do have to vape a little different from hitting a hookah . With vaping , you take long , slow draws , into your mouth , then inhale and exhale . Where as in using hookah's you take long pulls into your lungs . But your right the flavor is great . I actually use a hookah with organic , non tobacco , or nicotine , about once a month or so . Lots of organics out there that use some of the same ingredients as vaping . The flavorings and even PG are used in both . So if you like using hookah's , you will surely take to vaping , as you can do it anywhere , anytime , and there are tons of different flavors available .

So I picked up an Ego-C kit at a local vape shop to try the vape thing out... and I LOVE IT. My gf has some issues.. said her throat hurt / she likes hookah better, but I like vaping (almost more than hookah now). It's so convenient and everyone at the sushi restaurant, including the staff... LOVED the smell.

HOWEVER, I think the Provari I got to try out at the shop really caught my eye. I'm placing an order tonight for a V2 satin black. 2 Batteries (standard size for now) and the upgraded ?Pila? charger.

I NEED SUGGESTIONS for the carto / tank combo. I want some reliable stuff, since the attys on the ego-c get burned so easily. I had to keep dripping some juice on them and I fried one learning "how to vape". I vape a lot and I take hits very frequently, with long pulls. I want a tank and carto combo that's carefree... I read there is a pyrex tank that wont crack with any juices? I just need to know what cartos to get... I've heard the Boge 3 ohms around the forum a lot... is that a dual coil? And do I have to buy a punch? If so, where do I get one and where do I punch it? I've only used the ego-C atty / tank system thus far, so it's kinda hard to just piece together my kit....

The most carefree 'tank type' vaping with an eGo (since you already have the battery) is a Stardust. Fill up and go. No leaking, no burning, cheap and easy and comes in many colors. (on the right in the pic) I love my Stardust.

Hookah is "in a perfect world" supposed to be vaping, hence the indirect heat and smoother smoke. You'll LOVE vaping, as I was a hookah addict before I got into ecigs.

I love my ego settup with a dual coil tank mod on top, you should try it out before you invest in a provari if you haven't tried vaping on anything other than a mini Ecig :)

On a side not, I love starbuzz sex on the beach sisha. Try it out!

A good cheap budget friendly tank setup is the Smoketech Dual Coil Carto tanks. It uses a pre-punched XL cartomizer with a flange on the bottom. They have become very popular and the cartomizers come in many setups. For a Provari, again, I would recommend getting a single coil 3ohm carto as sometimes, regulated APVs like the Provari have issues using dual coil cartomizers. Check out MadVapes. They are the only supplier where I have found an entire selection of cartomizers for the tanks

If you do decide to go for the tank setup, depending on the viscosity of your chosen juice, make sure to choose Cartos punched with either one hole or three holes to avoid flooding!

Pesonally I use a Lil Mama Tank, which is awesome, (although there are other good setups) no leaking and a new carto can just be pushed through from the bottom when you want to change out a new one (without spills and having to drain your whole tank etc). But I am actually getting a little adaptor to be able to use the stardust on my Provari, I will see how that goes :).

Hi Godzilla35 and welcome to ECF! Regarding having to drip on the Ego C Atty to avoid the burnt taste; a friend of mine who converted to vaping a couple months ago was having this issue. My husband checked it out and found that once you fill and replace the tank you need to make sure you see a bubble come up into the tank as sometimes the tank creates kind of a vacuum seal so you aren't getting juice to the wick at all.

Ecig Express - under specialty cartomizers is their Ego Elegance Clearomizer, this is what the same friend has started using and he likes it alot more than the Ego C Tanks

As far as tanks I am a fan of the DCT Tank from MAP along with SMOKTech Dual Coil Cartos. Clouds of Vapor sells the tank, cartos and the carto punch. You can go to YouTube and just search for punching dual coil cartos and quite a few videos will come up. I have recently tried the ReNew Single Coil Cartos - XL from Clouds of Vapor in an effort to make my e-liquid and battery last a little longer but I am still searching for a really good XL Single Coil Carto that will fit in the MAP DCT Tank.

eGo cartomizers have 510 threading too so will work on the Provari, you will just need an adaptor to raise the threading. Any 510 cartomizer will work on your Version 2 Provari too.

The version 1 Provari did not like dual coil. Some people like Dual Coils, some don't and some can't tell the difference. Everyone's tastes and needs are different. Just get your basic setup you decided on, and later you can expand and try different cartos, tanks and whatever (if you want to).
