Vape might vaporize your debt, but it can also vaporize your bank account. Ultimately, it's up to you.

About 2 years ago a veteran came back to the forum and stated that vaping being cheaper than smoking is a fallacy. In a subsequent post, it was later revealed that this person vapes some really high priced juices that they "can't do without" and wasn't willing to find some cheaper juices that would satisfy them.

Wanting all the latest gear and vaping expensive juices will put you in the poorhouse.

    Hello Indonesia! Welcome Ghostclan.

I found that the first year of vaping, okay the first couple of years, were very expensive for me because I wanted to try everything, all of the flavors, and especially the varieties of clearomizers. Then glassomizers started coming out. And more flavors. Then better coils.

Then all of the continuous scares of vape bans, the hoarding, the worry worry worry, about having to go back to cigarettes some day.

Now I have my basics, and the equipment seems to last a long time, except for the coils that have to be changed now and then. I have one preferred flavor, one pg/vg ratio, a hoarded supply, and back-up everything. I feel that vaping would now cost less than cigarettes did/would, but the lower cost would be if I didn't have to continuously worry about bans, so I still increase the hoard from time to time.

Now I have read a recent thread that I interpreted as saying that 18650 batteries are disappearing from the market. Gawd. If that's true, then my huge supply of single 18650 plastic Bolt mods, which I don't use and only hoard, will be useless. I do have a few 18650 in plastic cases in the freezer, but no idea how long they'll last in use, or if I need to start getting 50 of them. Or 100, or what.

So if I look at it as a hobby, well, it's cheaper than collecting old diamonds or restoring vintage cars, or even a shoe obsession. We all started with some kind of addictive element in our personalities, so maybe vaping is the cheapest and safest answer to that.

    Hi
In the beginning I spent a fair amount to try different things (like most new hobbies)

but now, 5 or so years on I don’t spend much at all. That is only because I don’t have any nicotine.
I checked my statement for this reply and it looks as though the last time I spent money would have been £20 in July!
Admittedly I get something like 200ml out of that and I mtl.
    Anyhow, it can be done

    Have fun saving money

In the past 7 years that I've been vaping and not smoking, I've spent less than $800 on vaping and not spent close to 15 grand on cigarettes.
I'm coming up on 8 years. I have no idea how much cigs cost here these days, but at $6 a pack (what I was paying in 2013), I'm well over $30k not spent on them.

Like many others, I did spend a good bit on vaping during the first few years, but the looming sword of regulations got me buying gear that would last a lifetime, mixing my own juice, and stocking up on nicotine, so my ongoing costs have been close to zero for a number of years now. I did recently buy some new batteries and a few liters of PG and VG to replenish my stash of that.

after reading your post just checked my 20 bensons
    £13.35/$18.18

I thought that was optimistic but for £13 I buy the nicotine and specific concentrates (for a black flag risen thing I make). I get 200ml and vape 4ml a day.
To think of it like that is big savings (apart from your health which I don’t think we can price)

    Welcome @GHOSTCLAN

Vaping can save you a ton of money, but it can also be a great hobby.

I vape like a concert cloud machine but I bought my last 5gal bucket of VG about 3 years ago and I'm just now getting down to the last gallon. I have enough NIC for 25years so I don't have to spend another dollar for about another year. So, it can be done! :D

On the other hand, I have bought a collection of mechanical mods that set me back a pretty penny. I have still saved money overall but had lots of fun and satisfaction spending money on the hobby.

And I have met a lot of pretty awesome people and made a lot of friends here on ECF.

I can almost guarantee that if you stick around here and meet some folks you will certainly enjoy the experience.

Stick around and make it work the way you want it to. Everyone does it different. Find what you like and leave the rest.
