My sidewinder fires with the insert in place, but don't with a kick in it.It might be my batts, some are well used, some are fairly new(all AW IMR's,got a few more charging right now).I'm weeding out the old ones,it seems even with a full charge, they don't have enough oomph under load to fire the kick or provari mini with a ZAP.
Or could it be that the kick compartment is anodised and the kick is not making a good ground?I have read that anodised aluminum is not the best conducter.
Don't worry too much about the kick, until the Kick Kit comes out. (Unless you are just stubborn and determined, I wasn't) The Bridge piece is likely part of the problem. Andyman & Mike got that one working with a kick, but until the bridge piece is fixed some people will have issues. I'm not saying that everyone with a kick will have the issue, but the bridge piece or a workaround needs to be swapped out. The anodizing is causing a voltage drop (its adding series resistance) and it's making the kick, scream. I went mad trying to get the thing to fire with a kick. I finally gave up. Props to Andyman & Zen for getting that one working. I was living vicariously
through the experience watching it fire up.
There may be more too this than just the bridge piece, I just know the plain un-anodized bridge piece was the last piece of the puzzle to get the Kick to work in Andy's SW. The bridge is metal piece on the bottom that carries the current from the switch cylinder to the atty cylinder.
Just don't go bonkers worrying about it until Mike chimes in. Too tired to type, only 3 hrs of sleep.
EDIT: the screw in the SW (under the kick) has to be loosened and raised to make contact with the kick. (TRIAL AND ERRROR) The inside anodizing of the kick needs to be dremelled or sanded to get the kick in and to ensure the protruding ground coil of the kick makes contact with the inside of sw cylinder bare metal.
