emonty..... FWIW last night's "Success" in getting the switch on my AYS to fire was short lived. It's back to its old tricks. I've held off sending Zen a PM 'cause I know he's swamped with requests. Hoping to catch him logged in here…. Don’t know what else to do.

Thanks again for your help.
I'm assuming you already went through the process of slightly filing/sanding the contact screws (positive/negative), checked that the negative screw is screwed in tightly, battery connections are clean, battery is charged, squeezing the switch at an angle vs pushing directly up...?

Yep... Been there, done that. I'm having a T-shirt made up with all that printed on it.... Just waiting for the FINAL, MAGICAL step. :)

antism...... HOPEFULLY my first response was taken as tongue and cheek. Certainly no ill will toward you was meant in ANY WAY. Just a bit frustrated that’s all.

It takes more than snarky comments to crack me good zenfidel! I understand you're frustrated, for sure. And no offense was taken in any way. Just doin' what I can to help. I did read you were having issues, but kinda skimmed over what was attempted.

Cool.... And your suggestions are most appreciated. I'd gone through all this stuff last night with emonty and we thought we had it figured out.... Only to come right back to square one this morning.

Suppose it would help for me to go back and re-read the suggestions. Firing off random possibilities obviously isn't helping.

I've been following this thread pretty closely for over a month now. Not very long compared to some I realize, but I'm thinkin' I've covered or uncovered everything about the switch that I can. (Obviously I could be wrong about that.) I was just reviewing Lorderos "Zenesis Cleaning Process - Full teardown and rebuild". I don't have the same fiber glass brushes for cleaning that he uses, nor do I have the same anti-oxidation compound that he uses (no-alox). I do have and have used Deoxit and Deoxit Gold, which from all indications is supposed to be pretty good stuff. I didn't apply it on this last cleaning frankly because it didn't seem to do any good on the first cleaning.

How did you clean the internals of the female threaded post for the firing screw?

Soaked a paper towel in isopropyl alcohol, gave it a few good turns in between my fingers forming it into a point or tip of sorts and threaded it down into the hole. Probably went in there a good 3/8 to 1/2 an inch.... Plenty to cover the depth of the screw. I did basically the opposit for the screw. Wet a paper towel with IA, grabbed it between my fingers, using my finger nails to be sure to get down between the threads, and screwed it into the towel. Inspected everything prior to reassembly to ensure there were no paper shards or pieces left behind.

spw11, so much for giving me credit! Only thing I can think of is that after some time there is build up of gunk, but in one day that would be too fast.....The switch screw makes contact to the battery and at the same time the side of the switch is touching the inside of the switch, it is not rocker science and that is all there is to it. There must be something which prevents it from doing it perfectly, if somebody can explain or fix it Zen~ should be the one I guess. I have had no issues after cleaning and I am not using any lube, oxidant or whatever, I even took out the magnet that I had on the positive post of the battery as Zen~ did not recommend doing so. It rattles a little now when I shake it, but it is not a shaker so I don't care. what other reason could be there for not firing besides the obvious...I have no clue...as you stated when making contact with pliers it works 100%, so there is no issue with anything else other than the switch...it will be solved, I am sure but I have no other suggestion then to ask Zen's help on this one......

YUP... Rocket science it ain't. You did take quite a bit of time to try and help though and I appreciate that a great deal.

If this is the worst thing that happens to me all month I'll be in great shape. Still a bit frustrating though....

spw11: take the switch apart again, dump each piece into a bowl of alcohol, let it sit for a few minutes, then rub it all clean and dry, put it back together, clean the female threads of the tube again, threads of the switch, into the grooves and try it again! If nothing I give up!
Also: check if the screw (positive) in the body is tight!

I'm currently about 15 pages back so I apologize if this has been answered - just wanted an expedient answer. The ASH (BOOMSTICK) edition notifications that were to go out in a day two days ago, have they gone out? Where does one get a notification - I assume it is through PM here. I remember there being a time limit of 48 hours after notification with the AYS, so I am merely making sure that I don't miss my window, I am in no way complaining, in fact I am grinning ear to ear.

I didn't get one. I'm assuming he's busy finishing other things.

Well I'm at a loss. The only thing that comes to mind was a similar issue with the Legacy. I don't know if it would be suggested with the zen or not, but could help.

This was the initial problem
This was the working solution

Side note, the hexshaft is the external part of the post that the firing screw threads into. Also note that the Legacy uses a spring for resistance, separating the switch housing from the battery, whereas with the zen it's obviously all contained in the switch.

Soaked a paper towel in isopropyl alcohol, gave it a few good turns in between my fingers forming it into a point or tip of sorts and threaded it down into the hole. Porbably went in there a good 3/8 to 1/2 an inch.... Plenty to cover the depth of the screw. I did basically the opposit for the screw. Wet a paper towel with IA, grabbed it between my fingers, using my finger nails to be sure to get down between the threads, and screwed it into the towel.
