Coil wrapping

I'm sure you've used steam engine before? hopefully this isn't old news for you.

Got it to 203 heat flux @ 55w using 26g dual coils @2.5mm inner diameter.

Might be the kava talking.

Yeah i just edited the post, sorry, im looking to get 55 watts out of a single coil, is this even possible :/

hopefully a "fancy" coil person will weigh in. Maybe with Temp control and not kanthal?
Thats what i was thinking, found this site, Vaping Wire but i aint got a clue how to tap half of them in to steam-engine! Hopefully everybody on here gets involved with this chat as i could really use some help,

Parallel 24g or 26g wire.
Try 7 wraps with 24g on 2.5mm jig, should come out around .25 :)

Lemme find a pic for ya

    #26 2.3Ω, 16.5 wraps on 3 mm: Coil wrapping
    However this needs 11.25V, meh.
12.5 wraps of #24: Coil wrapping
    which requires a often do-able 8V.
Or, re-do the #26 as dual parallel, .6Ω no problem on voltage limits, 8.5 wraps each: Coil wrapping
    change to twisted as desired.

EDIT: 12.5 wraps #24 SS316 would also be .6 ohms, 5.74V: Coil wrapping

Doing my head in having to use this stuff as i can never get it to clamp down without a bit of hassle, do i need to use alien wire? Cheers, id like to have a heatflux of around 219 max

    Single coil

Parallel or twisted wire: here's an example with twisted 26 gauge Kanthal at 0.5 ohms. Change the resistance to 0.6 and you'll get your heat flux within spec, but the heat up time (heat capacity) will likely start to become noticeable.

IMO twisted is the easiest way to get two wires into a single coil.

Which atty? Regulated or on a mech?

You can use thinner wire, no problem. Use them in parallel and do mucho wraps. A larger diameter also helps.
Like 3,5mm diameter, 0,3mm SS wire (roughly 29G) parallel 13 wraps. Heat flux is 190 at 55W.
Comes out at 0,8 Ohm, so it wont do on a Mech.
