How can I tell if it's the atty or batt that's defective?

Hi, I feel ......ed but I don't have any idea if my atty's malfunctioning or the battery is... or if my cart's out of juice. Actually, that's not totally true, at least when I suck in a mouthful of liquid when trying to get a decent hit! I'm using a Blu which only came with one atty and I'm stuck in Taiwan until the end of the month so I'm dead limited on choices right now. Any feedback would be gratefully appreciated!

Replacing the Blu with another model would be a good idea if you can get one (order with some liquid!!). Perhaps ordering from one of the China manufacturers would get you a new kit quickly?

I'm sure EastMall or Heaven Gifts could help you out. A 510 would be a nice upgrade for you.

My favorite way to tell if a battery is defective is to unscrew it from the atomizer and place it in my mouth.. Then take your tongue and touch it to the connector and inhale. If the battery is good, you'll get a small jolt like you would from a 9 volt battery (come on, tell me everybody has done this at some point )

The zap actually isn't as bad since e cigs only work off of 4 volts or so.

I have found the best way to test atty's as well as batteries is with a multimeter. You can test voltage of batteries as well as resistance on an atty with the turn of the dial.

I think I paid 6 or 7 bucks for mine? There are certainly more precise multimeters out there that cost more, but this is plenty for my needs.

there is only one really effective way.. parts swapping.. this does require you to always have some new known to be good parts on hand.. a lot of people wont have them but those are the people that will have problems..

when we get something back for repair its how we do it.. and without test equipment it really is the only effective way..

+1 on what Trog said. You mention you only have one atty... do you have a spare battery? What happens when you put your atty on the other battery? If nothing, then it's probably the atty. If it works, it's probably the first battery.

You're awfully brave going anywhere with just one atty! I carry a spare in my pocket at all times.

Tests are available. You can test an atty, you can test a bat. What's left? You know if the cart has juice......So, you might only have to test the inhaling power of your lungs.....

ps.. mind you i an sure this thread started off in the general messages forum i did answer according.. this place has too many forums which is okay if folks choose to post in em but mods keep moving stuff about at whim it seems..

for example i would not post in this one but its where half of what i say ends up.. my answers are aimed at general users not a bunch of multimeter owning techno-geeks... he he he
