Sorry for the cut & paste, but I've become tired of typing this out:
Ecigs found me as well. My sister came to visit from the US, and on the way to the airport I was concerned if she would let me smoke in the car. (Ordinarily, I wouldn't be too concerned about what other people want in my car, but come on, it's my little sister.) :)

Turns out that she was the one that was concerned, and asked if she could vape in the car with her Mistic. I said sure, and she vaped and I smoked all the way home. A few days later, I tried hers, then ordered a Mistic online. During her visit, I started googling, and found my way here. A few months after that, I created an account and posted my desparate call for recommendations on an upgrade. I ended up with a KGO that I still love and use.

About 6 months later, I had started hiking, and in the middle of the hike, knowing I had a pack and a half left, I decided that I would finish the half pack that day and keep the last pack as "emergency backup". I haven't smoked since, and the unopened pack is still in my glove box. Not necessary to the story, but I'm very proud of that fact, so I'm including it. :)

Now, just over 2 years later, my sister and I are both rocking Provaris, my wife has a Silver Bullet and a few eGos (including the wooden one), and my co-worker has an eGo Twist, and hasn't smoked in well over a year.

There. 4 stories for the price of one. :)

I love reading all of these stories!

My neighbor quit smoking with an eGo starter kit, and kept telling me that I should do the same. After a while, he offered to loan me an extra starter kit that he had purchased so that I could try it out. It sat in the box for a few months before I even tried it. Finally, on Halloween, I decided to pull it out of the box and take it with me while we went trick-or-treating. I was thrilled with the vapor, and decided to go get some juices and clearos (couldn't stand the cartridges) the next day. I haven't smoked since.

I've been nicotine-free since Thursday - I'm currently vaping 0mg. After countless failed attempts to quit (cold-turkey, patch, gum, hypnosis), I'm thrilled that e-cigs did the trick for me. I've converted a couple friends who have also quit smoking, and recently purchased a starter kit for my dad. I feel amazing, smell amazing, my skin looks amazing, and my son is proud of his Mama. Love!

any product that's called smart is only smart for the one selling it. That's how you know not to buy it.
I'm stealing this. ... funny I don't care who you are!

Great thread and many interesting stories. Here's mine: Sometime in Aug 2010 I picked up my copy of the WSJ out of the driveway, took it to my front porch bench, and skimmed thru it while enjoying my morning smoke. Inside was an article about e-cigs. That got me interested and started about a two week frenzy of internet self educating. Could it be possible? Smoking but not smoking? All the stuff I like about smoking with nearly zero of the bad parts? Smoking indoors without consequence? Sounded just too good to be true.

I guess a month or so later, I carefully chose an eGo starter set and ordered it from a highly regarded (here) vendor online. Arguably one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life.

My interest was peaked by an anti ecig article I read in some magazine it was paid for by a big pharma company and being the cynical old sod I am I started to look into them. It was about a year later I was waking up everyday coughing my guts up and although I enjoyed the smoking experience I knew the health effects would force me to quit. I saw an ad for an ecig company in the UK and just took a chance it was a cigalike kit with it's own carry charging case and cartos. I actually managed to give up tobacco with that kit although I wanted more so looked on the net read up about ego's and these ce4's and more money spent :). I'm now on a sigelei zmax with carto tank and waiting on new tanks that use evod heads as I recently rebuilt my first head bit rough but it worked.

Now I let anyone and everyone try mine and help them move from tobacco to ecigs if they want too best thing I ever did.

I was on the computer and i can't remember what i was searching but i saw these ecigs and i decided to research some more on them. I read alot about how people where quitting smoking using these ecigs. So i ordered the ego C starter kit. This was March of 2013. My husband ended up using them too and i was forever filling them up and charging them for him. Drove me nuts. Also we didn't have the right nic for either of us. I ended up smoking again and he was right behind me.

About 3 weeks ago i went to smile and my lip was a drooping. I also had a huge zit on my face it was so swollen that i am not sure if it was a mini stoke or caused from the zit on my face. I was stupid and didn't got to the hospital and now my Dr. is doing tests on me. So after this happened i knew it was time to quit. Even if it turns out i was unable to smile on the left side due to the zit. I am done with smoking as that really scared me.

This time i decided that i am not sharing my ego with my husband and if he wants a set then he can fill and charge his own. I ordered 4 bottles of e juice and i found one i really like. I have been analog free now 9 days.

My husband now wants to get his own kit and try the ecig again too.

My introduction to vaping happened about a year ago. I saw the advertisements on TV for the Blu e-cigarettes and my immediate reaction was that it looked pathetic. For me personally, I had always regretted starting this disgusting and nasty habit of smoking but like so many others, I was addicted and my will was not strong enough to quit. I could not understand why anyone would want to use a device that made it seem like they were smoking but weren't. Of course this was my ignorance speaking...

Shortly thereafter, I went on a long car trip with my wife and a friend who drove in his vehicle. I have always kept my nasty habit to myself so I never smoked in the car with my wife or kids. I would wait until we stopped so I could get out and kill myself slowly with a cancer stick without having them suffer as well. On one of these stops (one of many), we were at a convenience store and my friend went in and came out with a Blue disposable. I immediately looked at him like he was crazy. He informed my that he had recently quit smoking and that the Blu helped take the edge off for him. He explained that there wasn't any second hand smoke, he didn't stink, and it eliminated his urge for a cigarette.

A few days later, after much consideration and internal debating, I decided to go and get a Blu disposable. I could not believe that one cost about the same as a pack of cigarettes and I immediately did not like the way it "felt" in my hands, especially when being compared to a cigarette. Regardless, I decided to keep an open mind and try it out. I immediately did not like anything about it! Hated the taste, how hard it was to take a draw, and of course it did not do anything for the urge I had to smoke. I ended up throwing it away and immediately felt like I should have trusted my instinct and never wasted my money.

Several months later, I was informed that my work was going smoke free starting January 1st and that smoking would be prohibited anywhere on the property to include our personal vehicle. At first I was ...... and had no idea what I was going to do. I have tried the patch, gum, medication, etc in the past to quit and have been unsuccessful every time. There was no way I would make it an entire work day without a cigarette and I was stressing. As time went on, I started to embrace the idea as this may be the opportunity I needed to quit as I did not have any other option. At that moment I started thinking about the e-cigs again. I was seeing more and more commercials and I figured there had to be an option out there that would work for me. So, I Googled electronic cigarette forum and found ECF. I posted a thread and within minutes I had responses pouring in. After many questions and a ton of research, I purchased an iTaste VV V3 that came with iClear 16 tanks and got some juice. I received my PV on December 20th and haven't had an analog since. I was one of the lucky ones who was easily able to quit as soon as I started vaping. I did not have the urge for a smoke and now have been smoke free for 3 weeks. This was a dramatic change for smoking at least a pack a day for over 13 years!

Now I an say that I have a completely different perspective of electronic cigarettes as well as the community of people who use them and now I am an advocate! Vaping changed my life as well as my family's life for the better! I have avoided the continuous health risks, stopped smelling like an ashtray, I can breathe easier, and I have stopped wasting so much damn money. Now that I look back, I wonder how I did it for so long and only wish that I was not so ignorant in the past. But that is all behind me now and I have focused on the future. I initially started with 24mg juice and dropped to 18mg after a week and a half. Now I am getting ready to get more and plan to drop to 12mg. Eventually I may be able to eliminate the nicotine all together but for now I am taking things one step at a time and I am not putting too much pressure on myself.

I am indebted to ECF as well as it's members for shedding the light I needed as well as for being the support that played such an important role in my vaping journey thus far. I can only hope to be able to pass this along to other members as time goes on!

Vaping found me.

One day I got a pop-up ad for some ecig...don't remember the brand, but it was one of those scams where you have to buy their prefilled cartos...kind of a carto of the month club. Anyway, I was intrigued and I started researching,, ended up here, and the rest is history...so to speak. A couple of days later, I had my first starter kit on the way.

Funny that the scam actually hooked me...just didn't pull me in.
