Hello everyone!

I thought it would be fun to hear how everyone got started with vaping. My husband and I smoked for 35 years with no interest (me) for quitting. We did stop smoking in the house on Easter Sunday of 2009 which cut my consumption by more than half. I had checked into ecigs over a year ago but didn't find anything that really got my attention. I'm not that computer savvy so my searching was limited.

This past December, I was watching one of my guilty pleasures, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, don't laugh, and saw a woman using an ecig at a dinner party. I was amazed at how real the smoke (vaper) looked.

I hopped on the computer the next day, found a starter kit that seemed alright and haven't looked back. It's funny what can get your attention and actually cause you to take a life changing step :)

Hello, A friend bought a smoke 51 product and let me try it and gave it to me.Four days later I had a reaction to it ( a nose that didn't like the dyhydration) and it made my nose bleed.did not matter I was already hooked ,hard. It was a new product problem that scared me crazy.turned out it was a year old device that had issues.Within the next month the flavors and mainly health reasons were so great a pv was not only a savior but a better flavor.Today over a year later the thought of lighting up fire and putting it in my mouth is nuts.Everyone will not have that quick or same reaction .A pv has turned my health around is great ways that if it works for someone are life changing.I was never a smoke every day kinda guy but only going out when I smoke guy.Its a savior in ways I can not tell you in type. This is the only site I have ever donated money to in my life.
ps- dont call me cheap , its frugul

Well I've been smoking for about 5 years, and I've never really felt optimistic about being able to quit. I passed a 7-11 a few weeks ago and saw that they had advertised a NJOY for $20. Thinking to myself that it was a great deal because I knew the mall stands sold them for about $170. But, because I am a barginista, I figured I would do my research before committing to anything.

After the first 30 min of googling e cigs my head was spinning and as if dropped out of the sky, the answer to my troubled head, ECF came up. The more I read and posted the more reassured I felt and after watching the series of "e cigs for broke newbies" by MistressNomad I had made the decision on what model I wanted and how to properly care for it. Then I started the whole process of finding the best deals and ended up purchasing the Joye 510 from cignot.com and three juices from liberty-flights.com. That same week ended up being the series of monstrous snowstorms which unfortunately delaying my packages. About a week later I received my packages and started vaping.

The whole point of converting to e cigs, for me, was not only to eventually quit smoking but to also save money. Thus far I really haven't saved much because I find that every few days I'm either ordering new liquids or a new accessory, but I am hoping that once my "juice box" gets to be a sizeable amount that I will break even and really start to save. With that said I haven't completely cut analogs out of my life, but I was a pack a day smoker and for over a week I haven't had more then two analogs a day. Which is fantastic for me and I'm also hoping with time that number cuts down to zero. Like I said this is the first time in 5 years that I feel optimistic about quitting and I'd like to thank all the helpful people on this forum for passing on their wisdom and knowledge and helping me get my .... out of the ashtray.

Happy Vaping!
(hopefully one day I can be one of the people passing down my knowledge and wisdom and helping another newbie find their optimism!)

Like Tdale I got an email Offer, for only $4.99 shipping they would send me a "kit". If I kept it more than so many days they would bill my CC for $99.95, plus keep me supplied for only $49.95 a month. I of course deleted it. I got interested a few days later and did a search, and thank heaven I found ECF. My cardiologist is thrilled that I quit analogs, he had been on my case since he put in the ICD after it was found that I had a heart attack. I've done so well that my wife got into it also. So far so good. Bye the way, my Cardiologist is spreading the word about ECF to all of his patients who are still on analogs.

Now I happily blow vapor rings in the bar, clearly enjoying myself, and they look like they are going to have a stroke holding in thier rage.
Life is good!~:laugh::vapor:

I'm still a little timid about smoking my e cig in public places, maybe it's because I'm new. How are you supposed to handle a situation if someone comes up to you in a public place demanding you to stop smoking without telling the to :censored: off?

Right, so how do you go about explaining it to a uncalm person in a polite way?

I calmly expain it's just water vapor and not smoke, I'll do this twice. If they keep it up my eyes turn black and I tell them to go **** themselves.

The real pushy idiots don't care that it's not smoke, they are angry because you have defeated thier agenda.

I started smoking at 16 and continued on at least 2 packs a day for 5 years. Hating it and not wanting to try the patch or switch to smoke-less. It wasn't until April of 2010 that I discovered e-cigs. While visiting a friend of mine her neighbor was vaping and caught my attention and I knew I had to look into it. Did my research and placed an order in June. I started out with a JOYe 510 and loved everything about it. Although I was still smoking analogs, I had definitely cut down to a pack a day.

In August I knew it was time to experiment with other hardware and decided to go for a DSE901 and fell in love. The vapor was great, there was more flavor and just better all around. Still smoking analogs and thinking nothing would ever help me quit. Well one day while at a birthday party, my friend, the same one who introduced me to the 510 in the first place, was using a CHUCK. I wanted one.. bad.. I decided on my graphics, placed my order, waited not so patiently, got the batts, charged them and then FINALLY my CHUCK arrived. I love my CHUCK. I have also been smoke free for two months now. The smell and the taste of analogs make me sick to stomach and can't imagine ever going back.

I actually heard a negative story about ecigs which made me do some seasrching for more info. I thought it was such a novel idea! And I do not believe all I hear on the news.......

The first page of google hits contained a splashy ad page for the No.7 ecig. I decided to try it going by all the "testimonials" they listed (all positive). I got it and discovered it was terrible but I also found the ECF forums which steered me to other pages like Mistress Nomad's video series "Ecigs for broke people". I got myself a 510 kit and liked it. I stopped smoking that day. I since have read a lot more and bought more "stuff". I have been smoke free for 2 months now. I am glad I did the search.

I even have a couple MODS now! LOL

A coworker of mine picked up a No. 7 pv from a local smoke shop, I was interested and he seemed to really enjoy it so I bought it. Then I discovered EFC, a few days later I ordered a 510 after realizing that my No. 7 was overpriced and it was going to be expensive to keep purchasing things like batteries and atomizers for it. Two weeks later I purchased an Ego-T and a Riva 510 for my girlfriend.

A co-worker received an NJoy Pro as a Christmas 2009 gift from her nephew. Well, I didn't hear about the gift until 7-10 days after the fact. But, when I did it caught my interest as a gadget loving person and I ordered the same night (but not the NJoy).

She still smokes cigarettes, and I've never seen her use her NJoy. But, I'm grateful that she and her nephew made me aware of vaping.

Saw an add for a disposable e-cig

Up to 300 puffs smoke where smoking is prohibited ect...ect...ect...thought it would come in handy and get me thru some of those time that you cant light up(no smoking areas) or save me from having to buy cigs at the gas station when I run out before I can make it to the smoke shop.

asked a family member to pick one up for me when they went to that part of town...they came back with a $90 starter kit that I really really liked, after burning thru the 10 pre-filled carto's I heard about some one that refilled the their's for next to nothing...soooooooooo I started googling random phrases like refillable e cigarette's ect.the rest is history.
been vaping 10+ months with no sign of slowing down.
