How do I "fluff" the filler in my cart?

Hey everybody,

Just got my Joye eGo and have now been smoke-free for 3 days!!! Just have a quick question. I read somewhere that from time to time, when refilling your cartridges, you have to fluff the filler. If so, can someone tell me the best way to go about doing this? Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hello! Welcome to ECF

The filler in carts aren't the best, but a great way is to take a needle and to spread it out in the cart and then you're good to go! I use an ultra-dense poly-fil and use 1/4"-1/3" size pieces.

I found the best thing for that, was to go to Harbor Freight and buy a set of dental picks for $3. But in a pinch, a paperclip, or anything thin and pointed works. My fluff method used to be to push the filler down into the loose fluid, pull it back up and move it from side to side. then pull it out just past the end of the cart and then push it back to where it should sit. Not rocket science for sure. If you insist on staying with carts, get a dental pick!

Thank you, Raynen.....also, how do I know when it's time to fluff the filler? I've been using and refilling the same cartridge for 4 days now, and have noticed that the top of the filler appears to be "mashed" (for lack of a better term) a little further down into the cartridge, and it seems like it's not hitting as hard as it was the first day or two.....could just be me, though

Great job starting off with an eGo.

You can fluff your filler with a pair of tweezers or a needle.

When the filler gets so it doesn't soak up the e-juice easily (3-4 days +-) you can replace the filler with new filler instead of having to use a new cart.

I'm not sure just where I'm going with my vaping, but mainly for now I'm sticking with what I have, and reading a ton of material on ECF, trying to figure out what I want and need, so as not to spend more $$$ than I have to (read: don't want to cut too much into my fishing money..lol).....I bought the eGo without any research, and apparently lucked out getting a good a good starter. I will definitely try the dental pick, I have plenty! Thanks again! This is an awesome site, for sure

Another tip you can try, since it has been close to half a week.
Get a bowl of hot water and place the filler in it. Swish it around and then rinse. Put the filler on a paper towel and roll it back and forth till dry. It will be a bit compact at this point. Use your fingers and just pull it back to shape and about the width and length of your cart. Put about 3/4 cart of e-liquid in the cart and carefully/slowly put the filler back in the cart with tweezers. Use the paperclip to adjust the filler in the cart. Using scissors, clip any threads that are hanging out of the cart. Top of with e-liquid until a little glossy-not pooling on top of filler. Fresh, cleaned filler all fluffed out, filled and ready to vape.

When my filters run dry, I typically use tweezers to pull out the filling and run it under hot water, then use toilet paper to pat try while filler is still in tweezers grip. Once dried I place back in cart drip liquid half way then fluff then continue to fill. This works for me, but at times can be a drag..that's why I find it best to drip

I know you just had the initial outlay for the Ego, but do yourself a favor and try a tank atty with it. Cartos are good too but the tank is better

You're welcome I usually fluff it everytime I re-fill. Also if it's not hitting right, it might be your atomizer, so check to see that it works properly after fluffing
