vaping in your house with young children or even grandchildren present? Since we all are fairly confident that the residual vapor we exhale is pretty harmless, Are you combfortable with vaping in the house if you have youngsters around? this could be from lets say 5yrs old down to a newborn? What are your thoughts?

I was recently at my brother's house...his baby is 5 weeks old and him and his fiancé (never-smoker) don't have any issues vaping in the same room as little Ellie. Not in her face, mind you, but same room was ok. I don't have a problem if the 'rents don't have one, but I'll always do what parents ask when I'm a guest in their home.

I have a couple of three month old grand sons here for the week. I vape around them. I don't blow it in their faces, but I vape with them in the room. I don't vape nic so that's not an issue, though it wouldn't change things for me.

What will change things is when they become a bit older and aware of what I'm doing. I still have to make up my mind about it, but I'm around 99% sure I'm not going to vape around them then.

I don't get the chance to interact with children, but I would probably act similarly to others: no problem with kids and vapor in the same house, but probably wouldn't vape in the same room (more for example's sake than inhalation fears).

I had a cutoff for a certain age where I was thinking "only on a different floor/far away," and I think 2 years and under was the number. I doubt it would be a big deal otherwise, but it doesn't hurt to be safe.

No kids here and no statements about personal vaping freedom to make on my end either. I don't think it's a big deal to vape near kids, and have no issues doing so until the Surgeon General issues some big edict about doing it. I don't have any issues with stopping vaping around a young kid if the kid's parent thinks it is a big deal and takes the initiative to politely ask me to please stop. However if they don't ask me to stop, I'm not going to preemptively censor my behavior either and I'm not going to fall all over myself to comply if I'm outdoors or otherwise not in a confined place that doesn't prohibit vaping. I'm all for getting along, but it's a two way street. ;)

Hmmm... two parts to the question for me.

1) Do I think it's unhealthy? Not really. In fact, kind of the point of us doing it. Now, as fate would have it, I am actually more conscientious around one of our cats who has asthma, so I wouldn't do it if anyone in the room had a respiratory issue.

2) Do I think it sets a bad example? Well, I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't say... maybe. When I was a kid, my cool uncle smoked. I thought it was part of his being cool, and I was attracted to it as a result. I practised with Popeye candy cigarettes all the time - a kid's fascination, not an adult's reasoned decision. Now, did I have a cool uncle who smoked or smoking uncle who was (at least partially therefore) cool? Didn't matter. Soooo... I would want to make sure the kids were either too young to form an opinion/fascination or old enough to reason it through.

We're close with our neighbors and since I work at home, some times they call me to pick up their kids from school in an emergency. I like to pull up to the front of the school with my 34 Ford with all the windows up sub-ohming my .... off until it looks like Snoop Dog's car. When the kids come up to the car, I hit the button and all the windows open simultaneously and billows of bubble gum cherry rise out of the car like a mushroom cloud with the Cherry Hill gang playing. I'm the coolest guy in the neighborhood as far as their concerned.

Not going to blow it in their faces.

I hope by the time they are facing the decisions about smoking, peer pressures, feel the need to get away with something, rebellion, image finding etc. etc. that the popular opinion for that generation will be idiots smoke and the cool guys vape! Just like Grandpa!
