I am totally new to this in fact I just got the email today saying my first kit was sent today. YEAHHHH!!!!!:) Anyway, I saw the GrimmGreen video were he is not happy about the primer in a new atty. It looks very unpleasant. How do I get rid of it? I don't want to taste it, and really don't want to inhale it as it burns. I'm trying get away from chemicals, not suck up new ones. Would a q-tip be a safe thing to clean it with? I don't want to do something stupid, and ruin it right off the bat. Your advise will not fall on deaf eyes. Thanks for the wonderful site, very cool.

I've only been vaping for about a month, but I had two cartridges that just would not loose that "primer" taste.

My final solution was to soak them overnight in Everclear. I put them in a small plastic container with a lid. Poured enough Everclear in to cover them and maybe 1/4" more. Put the lid on & shook them up to try to get the air bubbles out.

The next morning, I blew them out and dried with a paper towel. I let them sit on another paper towel for about 1/2 hour to dry. Pure grain alcohol evaporates pretty quickly.

After a couple of drops on the atty to prime it, they were great.

Just blow it out into a paper towel, first from one end, then the other. Repeat until you can't get any more primer out. Then put a few drops of juice on the atty bridge, and vape away. Viola, no nasty primer taste.

I advise against soaking in anything. It can seriously shorten the lifespan of your atty.

I started vaping 3 weeks ago, and the manual you get with the starter kit never even mentioned the primer fluid on the atty. It tastes horrible!! I learned really fast to get it out. I've successfully used my other new attys by just blowing them out. Like AngusATAT says, just blow the stuff out onto a paper towel or a tissue, then add a couple drops of e-juice to the atty. No more bad taste.

But as a noob, I have to admit my 2nd mistake -- I did not order juice when I ordered the starter kit. So had to wait a couple extra days to get some.

Congrats on your decision to give up smoking and start vaping. :D

Thanks to everyone for the help! I am so happy I made this choice.:)

I guess maybe I will be suffering through this if I ever get more 510 atties, but I have used several of the "new" style ones from IV (they no longer sell them though) and I think it tastes kind of good. Of course I also like the smell of gasoline. :)
I've tried some new Innovapor atomizers and they are primed with their Ecopure juice.
They taste just fine and there are no "primer" taste issues.

But I did once have that "primer" experience with an NJoy NPro atmomizer.
And wow, those who don't believe in the "primer" experience will never convince me.

It was about as bad a taste as you'll ever want to think about.

Ahhhh... well that explains it. I suspected that maybe that wasn't normal primer, simply based on all the complaints. To me it didn't quite taste like Ecopure, but it wasn't real nasty either.
