Hmm...it may be that the juice you're vaping just doesn't hold up well to 6v, or that you're doing 6 on a 510...wait....you are. How did I not catch that.

510s are tiny little heat machines, and 6 volts (imo) is just too hot. Around 5, maybe .1-.3 under is about what I'd say is the sweet spot for the little metal volcanos.

If you were gonna do it, it would need to be pretty friggin wet or have a pretty thick juice, definitely VG based.

so is there a different combo i could try? 901, 401 etc....

Wish there was some way to make the sb 5v....sigh

Personally, I think the 801 is the best atomizer for HV mod but different people use all of them. I actually use the BE112 atomizer (801 type) from BestEcigs and drip. The 801 vapes a little cooler which to me goes well with the increased power which provides warmer vapor. Here is a list of mods and a few are 5 volts. The list doesn't include the various 5 volt box mods :

Good Luck.

Well I'm not sure about the 510s you're using, but V4L premium cartos are low resistance.

I vape 6V every day all day long on my SB, but only with higher resistance 510 and 808 cartos (around 3.4 Ohms). You can find these cartos at Vapornine (Turbos), Nhaler (megas), CigEasy (gold label) and at V4L but called CoolCarts. There are a few other vendors that carry them, but that's what I've got on the top of my head.

Good luck!

I loved 6V on a 901, but they leak a lot, (A LOT) so I gave them up for 808 cartos. Regular ones, not HV or LV.

They're working well, last forever, and I've had no burnt issues.

I add 8-10 drops probably every hour and a half. I take off the cap and drip in. The "condom method" can get liquid in the center and makes for a very difficult draw and liquid in your mouth.

Keep them very moist.

Maybe it's your liquid. Is it good tasting at 6V with another atty?
I'm a Dekang fan, but lately have been experimenting with some flavors from Vapor renu and Tasty Vapor. Both are excellent @ 6V.

6v With the Nhaler 510 cartos is perfect, I've never gotten a burnt taste until it's nearly empty.
Same with the hard tip cartos from EastMall, I just don't like hard tips.

However, taste is always subjective and maybe my buds aren't as astute as yours, but I certainly don't ever taste burnt till empty, especially not on every hit. That would be excessively annoying.

VG does tend to work a little better than PG, not going to lie, most of my liquid has at least 50% VG in it anyways, might have something to do with it. :)

it is all about the WATTS you are vaping at .
I.E. 6 volts with a 3 ohm atomizer = 12 watts (if you are using 3.0 volt batteries the real applied voltage to the atomizer is around 5.5 volts or so )
6v @ 2.2 ohms = 16 watts

The sweet spot from all of testing I have done and several others is around 8-9 watts total.
so you would need a 4.5 ohm atomizer

or you could do something like this http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/100107-terminator.html

Candre23 posted a DIY version in that forum

i dunno it might be my liquid havent tried it with much but i did accidently leave the 2 3v batteries in the other day and screwed on my menthol carto and after 3 hits realized i was vaping 6v not 3.7 with no burnt flavor........dunno maybe the non-rechargeable batteries lost some juice and were performing at 5. Tho i have been noticing my apple pie taste burnt from time to time now.

ill be willing to buy one when u get em working buzz
