bath tub chemistry is never a good ideal.if you don't get it just right you could end up with a lot of toxic chemicals in your mix. .... is a good example of this. pharmaceutical .... is relatively safe but stuff from a street chemist can eat holes in your brain. usp kosher food grade VG is cheap and safe. leave the chemistry to the big labs that know what they are doing. and welcome to ECF hope you enjoy your stay here

Research biodiesel production. The glop you dispose of is glycerin and associated hydrocarbons. Refine the hydrocarbons out and you'll have glycerin. Expense, time consuming, and takes a bunch more chemistry knowledge than my simplistic overview here, plus the equipment to do so.

Once you have the equipment and process down, it's pretty cheap to keep the process rolling along. So you can turn your coconut oil to diesel fuel and glycerin and it's like a double DIY. Seems like an expensive oil to start from, but I get the impression that expense is not a concern to the OP.

Bulk Apothecary online has VG by the gallon for $13.40 and PG for $18.52 per gallon. They also have it in smaller quantities. Shipping cost depends upon your distance from Ohio where they're located. If you use the code savings10 at Checkout, you'll save 10% off the cost of the items, not the shipping though.
