How does one go about getting access to the other forums?

I was trying to start a thread in the 510 model specific forums, but apparently don't have access... there are a bunch of forums here I apparently don't have access to post to, like the main forum etc.

I guess I'm wondering at which point one's account here has full access to post to other forums?

its a certain number of posts, which i believe is 10.

15 posts i think might be 20. This is just to start threads, you can post in most other forums except the "groups" you have to join

After 15 posts you will... It's to cut down on people signing up just to spam every forum.

It was a 15 post minimum when I was a newb. They have to do this to protect us from spambots and such, unfortunately. Join a conversation and you can get there today...

I also want to get my post count up high enough to start making my own threads in other sections, but I hate just posting random replies. I feel like I'm cheating unless I actually add something to the discussion.

lol trust me, there are times (and places) where that happens so often that you won't even think about it any more.
