I'm really interested in the ceramic wicking (yes, I promise to get the treated stuff :) ) because I hate the taste of burnt silica and the way silica breaks down and frays all over the place, at least the stuff I've been using. Ceramic sounds great even at the premium price.

Does the XC-116 fray and get hairy after a while or does it retain its shape for the most part? (ETA: I will be using this mostly in drippers.)

Thanks!

Mine doesn't fray. But after 3 or 4 dry burns, it gets crispy and doesn't wick anymore. So I have started doing my coil builds with extra xc-116 down in the tank so that when the top is crispy, I can just pull that part up through the coil and clip it off. Then I have fresh xc-116 under my coils, and it vapes like new again.

Oh, that's a really good idea - what tank are you using?

I do the same with my RSST. Just leave the part in the tank long and pull up as needed. Haven't done so due to dry burning, but to get fresh surface to recoil. If you have watched the video on RBA Supplies website of him cleaning it, I don't think my coils will get any hotter than the torch he uses. By the way he has rebranded his as ReadyxWick. I guess to stress that it has been kiln treated and is "ready".

I have several, but right now I have xc-116 in my z-atty pro.

Would you happen to have a photo of your build? We just got some XC-116 and I'm using it in our drippers - it's awesome. We just got two Kraken clones and I really want to try it out in there.

Also, I wonder if you could pull it up, torch it clean, and then thread it back down...
