Really...you see no resemblance?
I've never seen that type dispenser. The ones we have here look like this..

That is correct. But Mike didn't design the kick or the DNA30, the protection on the ZNA30 is what he built in and he admits he copied directly off of the ProVari.I haven't watched the Mike & Phil video. But I do know that the Kick does not have reverse battery protection, and using reversed batteries with a Kick will destroy it.
Ask David, he's the one who brought it up. I was just answering his question. And I'll watch the videos this evening, okay.If you don't know the reason why the ZNA30 only takes button tops, than you surely have no idea of the comparison between the two, and you should definitely watch the videos with Mike and Phil discussing this very subject. I'm curious as to why you decided to pick out the ProVape-1? You chose the least common ProVape product and the one the thread is not about.
Not sure how this thread got so far off of reality, but here's a dose -
-Chinese don't care about patents, rights or any of that crap, so that's not the reason for the lack of a clone.
-The high price of the Provari theory is also horridly incorrect also. If that was the case why would the clone the Squape, Kraken, Nemesis or other? They don't intend to sell any of those at high prices do they?
-Machining mechs is certainly easier and faster than doing boards, but not cheaper. You'd be surprised how fast a cnc lathe can thread and part simple tubes.
My guess? Why bother. ProVari owners don't necessarily buy them for their good looks. I know I didn't. Matter of fact, I think they could use a bit of a refresh in that department, not to mention some options. On the other hand, one of the big attractions of the Nemesis, Chi, Turtle, etc is their looks.
People are more likely to complete impulse purchases based on the shiny appearance of the thing that caught their eye. Most, not all, people who have bought a ProVari have done it after doing some research. that purchase is made after studied education - i.e. it's not a quick sale.
So in the end there seem to be several factors -
1 - the Chinese apv's decided to go a different direction by offering more bells, whistles, gadgets and gizmos.
2 - I'm sure they figured they could do it cheaper and better - which is totally open to interpretation.
3 - The quick sale, quantity over quality.
4 - Repeat business. The cheapos break sooner and have no repair service offered, aside from what I'm sure is a useless and figurative warranty on some of them. So customers keep coming back to buy more.
5 - ............
Don't think for a second that the Chinese are just mass producing idiots. They didn't become the largest single economy in the world in a very short span of time on accident. I'm sure when considering what to clone next, the above points and 100 more were gone over in great detail.
Oh, and by the way (not that I'm a China fan, but) the next time you knock China, think of who it was that invented the modern ecigarette - A Chinese pharmacist and smoker, Han Lik.
Im confused about that as well. Mine goes as low as 3 volts and as high as 6 volts. If you want more than that buy a fog machine and a funnel.
**edit there is NO possible way new vapers are inhaling that much vapor.I smoked 2 packs a day for 25 years and a 3ohm atty at 5.2 volts is plenty for me. That says the only appeal to mega watts and sub ohms is almost completely for show and that will get vaping banned IMO. Words like fronting, fake, poser, superficial, attention *****, etc also spring to mind and none of them have any good connotations to my way of thinking.

Provari has a 3.5amp limit - enough for the majority of users.
I've got a lot of RBA's - never had a problem so I don't really know what you're talking about.
Just because that's how you like to vape doesn't mean everyone else does -
-snip-

Fair enough, I add PG if I want more throat hit, and I don't mind holding the button down for 7 seconds. I can see why some people wouldn't want to do that. There's a lot of people out there who don't like large mods, either. Nothing against them either if they are happy with a 650 mAh eGo, let them be happy.Plenty for you is incredibly sub-par for me. Make no mistake, I was chasing after an actual emulation of a strong cigarette hit, and even then something with more kick. A .6Ω coil on a mech hits hard and fast from a fresh 4.2V down to 3.7V when it's time to change batteries. That's 30W down to 23W. No cloud chasing, and NO primer puffs and multiple mouth to lung inhales. It's a simple 2 sec burst of actual plentiful, flavorful, and warm vapor. Your NOT getting this short burst of efficient vapor production from your 5.2V on a 3Ω atty. That's simple physics.
Not everybody is trying to 10sec lung hit a volcano with sub-ohm. There's a specific type of vape experience and performance that exists with sub-ohm resistances and the wattage needed to make it happen.
The Provari will never be able to fire this set-up.
Fantastic! I really do suggest anyone with the slightest inkling watch the videos, Provari owners alilke. Mike really is a mad genius! The coating alone on his products is like something from a Star Trek flick. If Provape had had interest with collaborating with Mike I think we would have seen some really stellar devices. I think Mike mentions something about that in the video, or I'm confusing it with one of the others, anyhoo...
Exactly my point. You represent the majority of ProVape buyers and the Chinese business model does not service that. You make great points. I did not buy a ProVari based on looks. For me to buy a ProVari clone, it would need to perform like a Provari. They would have had to copy the chipset. And even then, there are other chipsets that "do more".
For me, buying a ProVari was a "whole package" decision. The Fit and Finish, the consistency of vape, the rugged build, the survivability as attested by scores of users, and finally the fact that you can get it repaired.
A Chinese clone could not provide any of that.
Very interesting.Plenty for you is incredibly sub-par for me. Make no mistake, I was chasing after an actual emulation of a strong cigarette hit, and even then something with more kick. Words worth quoting again so you can digest that you actually said this.
I love you to, man.
Refer to my answer above, I also elaborate some more:
Even if you can fire a .9Ω coil on a Provari, that sub-ohm coil needs power that isn't bottlenecked at 15W and 3.5 Amps. It's a different and specific kind of vape performance you get with sub-ohm. You don't really know what anybody's talking about, because you haven't experienced it.
I'm not talking about scorching hot cloud chasing. I'm talking about an RDA with proper airflow, that produces a greater amount of flavorful vapor with a more realistic short draw, like one from an actual cigarette.
Much like the setup member zapped says he enjoys above, I was using standard resistance cartomizers in an IB tank for a good 6 months. Same as him/her; 3Ω cranked to around 5V and above. I was well on the path of investing in something like a Provari. It was fine and dandy until I tried something that IMO was substantially better.
That killed any desire to obtain a Provari for me. It simply cannot handle the options out there today, and sub-ohming/high wattage vaping is a legitimate option, not just a cloud chasing trend.
Well said Dirk, let's hope member zapped follows your advice there, agreed?

Of course I have two MVP 2's and I love them. There's something to be said for Inexpensive, easy to replace, all in one,
Why is reverse battery protection even an issue. I mean, seriously?
Why is reverse battery protection even an issue. I mean, seriously?
Reverse polarity will kill circuits.
I realize that. I just wonder what Darwin would say.
