With the Vapor
So I'm still rather new to E-cigs and haven't needed to clean an atomizer until last night.

I would have done the coke soak but I drink pepsi and figured it couldn't be much different. Soak went fine, rinsed it this morning and couldn't dry it with a blow dryer so I hooked it up to my PC fan.

Pepsi or Coke always seemed to do my atty's in. Hope it works out better for you.
You might want to try Crest Pro Mouthwash next.

Good idea on using the fan though.

My first time trying coke ruined my atty's also then I read your suppose to use DIET but I don't care to use it either. I will try the Crest Pro next time.

I Don't Blow Smoke I vape!

Wouldn't rubbing alcohol do better than coke?

While it sounds like a good idea.... you really don't want to use rubbing alcohol or IPA on your atty (at least not a Joye 510 atty). While it will do a decent job on cleaning the internals (it won't remove baked on poly and other stuff though...), it will also partially dissolve an adhesive that they use down in the bowels of the unit. That adhesive can and will migrate.. clogging orifices and the nickel mesh. Bad Juju.

I just use hot water (nuked in mic for 1 min), and let it sit in there with occasional stirring until the water gets cold, then I rinse under hot water from battery side then flip and flip again. Dry the threads, blow out the atty into paper towl, then dry the threads again, and the outside, then stick the paper towl down and out into atty (never twisting). Then blow the sit the atty cat side down for about an hour, and its good to use again.

If my threads start getting gunked up (which I had a problem with, because my equipment sat for a few months unused), I will dip a toothbrush (old one obviously) into alchohol and clean the threads and rinse before I put it into the hot water bath. If you do this every few days, it should not have a chance to get too gunked up, and it has not killed a atty yet.

Has anyone tried using a ultra-sonic cleaning bath with ethanol (grain alcohol) to clean their atty?

Yes I have. My specific unit was designed to clean the ink cartridges used in design/drafting pen plotters... so it also heats the cleaning solution.

Cleaned the nickel mesh and wicking material nicely. Didn't remove much of the carbonized slag from the coil. Partially dissolved the 510 adhesive and essentially ruined the atomizers.

I normally use PGA. A dry burn also works pretty well if you have a manual battery or PT. Just remove the cart and depress the button for 10 secs or until it cuts off. let it cool and repeat. Some batteries like the 401 and 905 have a burn/cleaning cycle programmed to activate on a regular basis.

I love the computer fan idea. Definitely gonna try that after my next PGA soak session.

Exact same ultrasonic kind of cleaner here (made for ink drafting pens) except my 510's are all doing fine and the carbonized material is gone, gone, gone. Ultrasonic clean/dry-out/dry-burn/ultrasonic clean/prime/use. 4+ months and going strong. I wonder if the "dead" atomizers people report are really dead, or just gunked up. Mine look and act like new.

has anyone tried to explosive boil their atty.. i see a lot of ppl boiling.. but thats just sitting it in hot water.. if you where to bring nanapure water beyond boiling temp in the microwave then with tongs drop in the atty the boiling would start in the atty so the bubbles should form in the mesh breaking loose all the dried up juice..

this is kind of dangerous boiling water will shoot out of the cup and splatter everywhere if anything makes contact with the water in the cup..

Dangerous it is. It will splatter all over your hands and arms and you might need to take a trip to the ER. I certainly would not recommend this method. I mistakenly set the timer too long once when heating a cup of water in the microwave and didn't even realize that it had boiled. I then put something in the cup and got severe burns on myself. Don't anyone try this method even if you use thongs. It splatters a great distance.
