How Is The APC USB Powerpack doing?

Mine is on order, they came up for $15 again. But I have this one I got off of Ebay and have been vaping for 5 days now and the battery is at 3/4 on the charge.

I tell you, you add one or two of these things with a few usb pass throughs (upt's) and a usb car adapter, the original batteries are used very little if at all. Plus, at home, I have the upt's plugged into a pc and laptop and can move around between all of them (once my power pack goes dead).

My original intention was to use this power pack 24/7, even when I'm out and about, just to see how long it lasts, but I just keep it in my pocket while shopping, working in the garage, fishing and everthing else.

I don't know when I would use the original battery again?????

Man, this thing is still going, what is it, 11 days now? And it's still at 1/2 charge?

I am waiting for it to go dead so I can use my APC to see how long that lasts.

Again, I'm sucking on this thing a couple of time every few minutes throughout the whole day, so I can't imagine that I'm vaping any less than a normal person.

So there's my update. I will let everyone know when it's dead.

Hello to all on this wonderfull forum.
I have "lurked" for some 4 months, having given up a 40year 20 day habit in 3 days back in September following the purchase of my first e-cigarette.
I am an inveterate DIYer and like everyone else soon ran into all the annoying failings of this new technology and decided to try and improve things.
For me it has allways been battery power (or the lack of it!) that spoils the experience so I have experimented with various wired modifications to overcome shortcomings.
Being UK resident Maplins has become the place to buy switches, Ni-MH batteries and most recently a Maplin "own brand" re-chargeable Li-ion portable power pack (£19.99).Sold as an emergency charger pack for mobile phones it has, with a minimum of adaption proved the ideal power source for a modified 901.
Capacity 2000mAh
Output 5.5V 600mAh
Charges off the mains 3hrs
Plenty of power for excellent vapour production and a single charge is lastingseveral days.
Thank you all for so many tips and tricks that make this whole new experience work

Maplins rocks the HOUSE!! I bought my powermonkey there, its unsatisfying throat hit tho, doesn't output enough power but it does charge my phone instead!! It was either that or a kewl looking yellow and black portable power everything battery box that has a mains socket and USB socket on the front, an inverter, cigarette lighter sockets, torch etc, slightly ok massively bigger than a portable USB battery but it was only £30, wish I bought that instead!!

Just so people don't go running out and buying these for their USB passthroughs....this does not have enough power. Don't forget, it has to be at least 1000 mah output. This one might be good to power a modified 901 but not the passthrough.

Just a word of caution before someone spends money futilely.

Not sure the Maplin own battery pack is a Powermonkey.

This is called an External Lithium-polymer Battery Pack,is 50mm/100mm/7mm in size in "soft touch" black case.Four green LED's confirm charge level and a single chrome recessed button switches on power. The unit remains "on" for as long as power is used then goes into a "sleep" mode after 30/60 seconds of non use.Since I have a manual "push to on" switch replacing the 901 LED to control inhalations the sleep mode makes for an excellent safety factor avoiding a burn out should accidental compression of the cig switch occur in my pocket.
Allthough as stated the output is only 600mAh the higher voltage of 5.5volts would appear to make up the shortfall.

My APC didn't last one day - never got to it's first time charging-time even - after almost a day of great performing it just stopped dead, didn't do anything anymore and also can't be charged anymore. Sadly, shipping is more expensive then the whole unit in my case, so sending back and forth is hardly an option for me. I did order a second one... hoping that one does keep working...

Maybe it's just the cable connecting the charger with the battery pack.
We bought 2 - one did not charge!
My husband found a similar cable in our old comp supplies where they are often used as well for all types of peripheral material (any computer store should sell this cable as well)
When we exchanged the cable of the malfunctioning one using the same charger it started to work..the cables seem to be pretty sensitive
When you receive your new one try exchanging this cable to see if works..
we didn't bother to return the malfunctioning one because we had a spare cable.
Good luck!

13 days, down to 1/4 charge, still vaping great. My APC is still sitting and waiting.

Nope, sadly it's not just the cable. But didn't really expect it to be, because it had stopped dead while using it and with still a considerable charge inside it (no way it was near the end of the charge). Looks more like something shortcircuited inside; perhaps some parts not isolated well enough, or something like that (seeing their was no possible cause like falling, or shaking, when or before it stopped).
Oh well, have the second one in meanwhile, it's working and I hope it continues to work this time.

I'm no specialist on these sort of things but I do a bit of playing around with R/C cars and the new tech is with these Li-Po packs. They are extrememly sensitive. You cannot let them drain too far or they will not recharge or work for that matter. At the same time you cannot store them without being fully charged. Even then you have to check on them and make sure they are still holding a charge and charge them again if you intend to keep them stored for a long amount of time. Im very interested in the fact that it seems this is not listed in the manual, or maybe it is since I do not own one myself.
