APC Made a Mobile Battery pack with a Usb output. Perfect for the passthroughs
They no longer make them but can be found at fry's online.
But there are other one's on ebay also see link above

I have used the wall adapter with an extension cord attached to just vape on the couch now too instead of battery pack. Works just as good.

Here thought I would help
ok so I think I know how I messed up my Apc Battery pack.

Don't do this:

1)Plug in the charger cable to the computer and then to the apc battery but the big thing is

Don't plug in the USB Passthrough battery to it and vape.

I think this is what caused mine to go banana's

I really have no other idea of what caused it to go bad other than this.

Agreed Dan, that's something I mentioned in another thread actually. I'm looking at buying a long USB extension cord in order to vape directly from the socket so as to not put any unnecessary wear on the APC device itself.

I've also been vaping directly from the USB on my computer as well, but am not so sure if that's such a hot idea long-term. I like the idea of an AC power source much better.

I just got mine today from fry's. the cost was only 14.99. Shipping options were 6.93 for UPS, or 9.?? for 2day shipping. Thinking Fry's was in AZ or CA I chose the 2 day for the extra $3. Well I ordered it yestarday morning at 6:30 a.m. and it arrived today!! I was so surprised and happy. Charged it, and so far it's working like a charm. It came from Ohio. Either way, for $25 total and to have it next day I am very happy and highly recommend Fry's.

Funny thing, as I am writing this I just got an email from fry's. It says my item has been shipped lol.

Mine is on order, they came up for $15 again. But I have this one I got off of Ebay and have been vaping for 5 days now and the battery is at 3/4 on the charge.

I tell you, you add one or two of these things with a few usb pass throughs (upt's) and a usb car adapter, the original batteries are used very little if at all. Plus, at home, I have the upt's plugged into a pc and laptop and can move around between all of them (once my power pack goes dead).

My original intention was to use this power pack 24/7, even when I'm out and about, just to see how long it lasts, but I just keep it in my pocket while shopping, working in the garage, fishing and everthing else.

I don't know when I would use the original battery again?????

I just got my APC today and is on charge, however, my original one, pictured here, is still going. it is now 7 days and down to 1/2 charge and has the power equal to plugging it into my pc.

My vaping habit is a couple of hits every few minutes or so, througout the day.

Panderson out of curiosity, is this device above physically larger than the APC? It isn't easy to tell by the pic.

Larger, yes. Here are the dimensions in inches.

APC:

1/2" x 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"

PCUSA (in the leather case it comes with):

3/4" x 3" x 5 1/2"

Ok thanks for the specs. I kind of suspected it was somewhat larger given the kind of capacity you alluded to. I'm guessing somewhere in the 2500-3000 mah range.

It really comes down to what a person values most I suppose. Some vapers may like a device to be as small as possible and are happy to charge it every night, while others may prefer the least amount of charging necessary.

The energy density of lithium polymer technology is pretty much standard across the board right now. So size is roughly proportional to capacity with these.

I'm not an electronic guy, but here is what it says on the back:

Input: DC 9V/1.5A to 12V/1A
9V output: DC 9V/1.2A (Max 1.5A) 19.5Wh
USB Output: DC 5V/0.5A (Max:1A) 20Wh
Cell's capacity: 7.3V/3000mAh

I don't know how this compares to the APC, because it is upstairs and I'm too lazy to check it out right now, but if needed, I will check it out upon request tomorrow, just let me know.

Heck, I just may get edjumacated on the subject??????????

That helps.

20Wh @ 5V = 4000 mAh, which is precisely double the capacity of the APC (10Wh / 2000 mAh).

But that's just going by the stated numbers which are notoriously over-exagerrated by some of the manufacturers. The only way to know definitively is by doing actual testing of these devices under controlled conditions in order to determine their true capacity.

Clearly however, your device pictured is going to have a good amount higher capacity regardless. If the numbers are accurate, then it's like having 2 APC's combined into one single device.

How long for a full charge BTW?

I've been using mine a while now and it works great.

Only one problem to report: It seems to be going to sleep much more often than it should. I have a feeling that vaping doesn't keep the thing awake at all -- ie. vaping doesn't draw power for long enough to register as being "in use" by the device. I haven't done any "scientific" tests, timing it and everything, but it seems like the thing might be going into sleep mode after 15 minutes regardless of vaping.

I think since it's meant for charging other devices for relatively long periods of time, it might not consider our use for 5 seconds at a time to be reason enough to stay awake. Just my conjecture.

Only a minor annoyance, but thought I'd report it.

We've only had ours for a couple of days now but so far so good. I love the size of the APC. When my husband carries it, it actually fits in a leather cell phone holder he has, along WITH his Razr phone, so that's nice and convenient. We'll have a 2nd one on the way soon so that we both have one. I don't intend to ever go back to the regular e-cig batteries. Who needs 'em?

I do have a failing switch on my first USB passthrough though, and it's only about 3 weeks old. It works okay most of the time. I have another one on the way. Can't live without the whole USB set up now!

Holycow! I just ordered the APC from Frys yesterday and it's here already! Glad I didn't pay for faster delivery. Anyways it's charging as I type this. I just wanted to say the Motorola Razr V3m charger fits the APC power pack. Which is cool, this means I won't have to carry around 2 chargers when I'm away from home.

I have only charged it once and it was for 12 hours. I got up this morning and started vaping and it is still at 1/2 charge.

My APC has been charging overnight, but I think I will just keep my PCUSA running until it vapes no more to see how long it goes, then I will switch over to the APC.

At this point, as it's winter in the North West, I can easily carry around the bigger unit, because I'm wearing a jacket most of the time and cargo pants, so I have a place to keep it. In the summer, when it is shorts, tank top and flip flops, we will have to see.

I also installed a 12V adapter in my boat to plug my car/usb adapter in by were is sit when fishing so I can use my pass through.
