I joined immediately. I had a question and literally searched for "electronic cigarette forum" to find a place to ask it. Needless to say this was the first link and the rest is history.

A year, maybe? I had never joined a forum and swore I never would. I still don’t join forums but I like this one. Even the Big Green Egg forum gets a bit violent at times. I think forums bring out the worst in people....

I have been on forums since before there was an internet. Back then they were on dial-up BBS's (Bulletin Board Service). Today I am mostly on this forum and sometimes a software development forum or two. All of which are very friendly places. Back when the internet was young though, I was a gamer and let me tell you those early gaming forums could get downright vicious. There was one server specific, independent, unmoderated forum that I occasioned which had the unofficial nickname of "The Flameboard" and for very good reason. Reading it was like watching verbal gladiator death matches.

Wow, you brought back memories from the 80's. Had a Commodore 64 with a 300 baud modem (upgraded to a 1200 baud modem once I saved up enough from my paper routes) back then and used to trade games with people from these boards. It would take hours to transfer a game and had to hope the other person kept their end of the bargain and sent a game back. Hated being on these boards and having to deal with the anger issues of that day as someone always wanted to argue just for the heck of it. I guess the nastiness on the internet is nothing new as anonymity takes away all inhibitions.
