I went back and forth for about 2 weeks, and it really depended on the day for me, I started vaping on 11-19-09 and about 2 weeks later stopped smoking all together, mind you in the 2 weeks I was still using analogs it was really only 1 to 3 a day, and usually smoking about half and then putting it out, as I really got accustomed to the new flavor, which analogs lacked.

Make sure you have spare battery's and atty's!

I think that once I got my eGo, and had that killer all day battery life is when I finally realized I was not going to pick up another analog again.

eGo is one of many options out there for great battery life, I would say that having a high mAh battery is a must for any vaper, that and finding the right ejuice to satisfy the cravings, I have settled on tasty vapor for my e-juice in the 24mg strength, and I was about a pack a day + smoker, although Rath Carmel is so delightful!

look at it this way, if it gets you to cut down on the analogs even by one, your extending your good health and life, hopefully, obviously, as proven by many many others before you and I, it will make you aware of how foul the analogs are and before you know it, yer' vapin'. I'm still on analogs, waiting on my goodies to arrive in the mail so I too can be healthier and be a vapehead.

After a horrible horrible four week experience of trying to quit smoking just before new year 2010 I told myself that I will never do it again even if I have to die from cancer :) Then 10 days ago I read about ecigs, they looked like cool gadgets (I'm in IT and love cool gadgets), so I got excited and ordered a 510 kit and two 30 ml juice bottles. They arrived on June 2. Four days later here I am.

I didn't want to quit smoking by any means but it looks like it's heading that way. It's really that serious and I'm caught unprepared. The juices I have taste the same disgusting sweet (ordered more last night, just hope not all of them are that sweet) but vaporing does feel better than smoking. Now I'm confused. I still miss that dirty smoke and my ecig doesn't look serious. And I ran out of analogs...

I was reading this forum for days since I ordered my kit, thanks a lot for the information, very useful!

Ecigs are cool gadgets and they broke a 40 year cycle of smoking for me as well. Bought my first ecig @ the mall; brought it home and threw it in a drawer for 5 months. Took it out one day and said to myself, "I'll try it." I had 6 analogs remaining in a pack and I rationed them out to 2/day for the 1st 3 days; after that it was a little bit of a struggle for me. But I found from past quits that if I went out and bought that first pack/carton the quit was dead. So I toughed it out and 8+ weeks later, here I am--smoke free! This has been by far the easiest quit of my life (and there have been many before.)

Good luck with your quit; you can do it!

I had terrible time with depression and adhd when I stopped analogs. I found out by accident that tobacco was my main source for lithium. tobacco, chocolate, peppers, potatoes etc.any thing from the nightshade family contain a large amount of lithium. I avoided every thing on the list except tobacco because of migraines. I started taking a natural lithium supplement from the health food store, not the toxic prescription form. Analogs started tasting nasty and leaving a taste so bad on my tongue I had to go brush it. I now vape only when I'm around people who may have a cold or flue as a precaution. If this was helpful check out lithium orotate and lithium aspertate

It took me about 6 weeks, and it's been almost 6 months since I smoked a combustible cig. I did cut down immediately, but gradually tapered off. Without pain, without stress. I wasn't planning to quit, and wasn't going to stress myself out with worrying about it. If i wanted to smoke, i had a cig. For me what made the difference was the nicotine levels. I realized that with 18-24 mg/ml i didn't want to smoke, with lower mg I did. YMMV. I'm slowly reducing the nic, but only because my need for it is slowly decreasing.

I have a few friends that have started with e-cigs, but didn't continue (including the person who turned me on to them). For all of them there are two differences. They usedthe lower nic concentrations (10-12mg), and none are active on ECF. IMO, the support at ECF might be what ultimately makes a difference getting through the learning curve and hanging in through the times when vaping is a PIA.

so, welcome to ECF! good luck and happy vaping!
