I see people super sub-owning all the time, iv seen people go as low as .06 on 25rs and I dont understand how is that safe? Is there special tricks and tips i guess My question is how low can you go on a single 18650 tube mod running Samsung 25r or vtc5 ? And is there a good build for a single 18650 tube mod? The ramp up on all my builds is crazy and the vapor production just isnt there iv tried many different builds but i dont know what I'm doing wrong i know more metal more ramp up so iv tried micro coil builds but the resistance gets to too low for me to feel safe using it (.18 - .20) I'm quite experienced with building just looking for tips and tricks to improvco and what would you recommend single or duel?

Nope. Just big balls and a general disregard for personal safety.

Simple builds. Round wire, maybe twisted or parallel but nothing "fancier" than that. Single coil. If you need chunkier coils, you need more power, and if you need more power, you need dual batts.

The 25r and VTC5 are both 20A cells. 4.2v / 20A = .21Ω min. safe resistance. Note, that resistance puts you right on the edge of the discharge limit, so there will be no room for error. Most people choose to leave themselves at least a little bit of headspace.

If you need to build that low, a high wattage REGULATED MOD.

I have ran triple fused Claptons on a mech with good ramp up. Single Nichrome80 28x3/40, 5 wraps, 2.5 ID, ~.35ohm. Amp draw on it is safe for 20a batteries.

It's not safe at all. Pushing a battery beyond its limits usually doesn't end well. The continuous discharge rate is not a recommendation, its what the manufacturer says is the safe operating limit of the cell. So called "pulse ratings" are useless. WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW.

When you choose to be ignorant and defile science, science has a way of biting back at you. Your super sub-ohm buddies have just been lucky so far.

~0.35 is not the same as ~0.06 or even ~0.18 though. Dunno- I use regulated mods but... I can do math and have a decent understanding of batteries, etc. ~0.35 is low. Much lower than that seems dangerous to me, because there is so little margin for error. ~0.06 is- well I'm not going to tell someone what to do if they run that on purpose, because their business, but srsly... don't do that unless you really want to and understand what you're doing.

    Welcome and glad you joined.
What ever you choose to do, be safe, have fun and try to adhere the advice given to your reply. I'd hate to read about a preventable car accident happening due to excessive speed or a vape accident happening due to reckless mod builds.

Its not the same as 0.06, but that was not what I was replying to either. I never build that low ( I have built down to 0.12 before, but only on a 3 battery regulated mod ) so I have no opinions on those extremely low builds. They asked if there is any good builds for a single battery mech, and that 0.35 build is what I use. They also was worried about ramp up time, which is why I stated it had good ramp up.

Yep, sorry for any confusion- it's just that the OP mentioned 0.06 as a build and I wanted to emphasize that while your ~0.35 is reasonable ~0.06 is a different animal. ~0.35 might look, to some, not that different from ~0.06, but it's important to note that with resistance in the divisor small values there can lead to un-intuitively large values on the left hand side. At least it's linear, but if you're off by 50% aiming at your 0.35 linearity probably works out for you. If you're off by that much aiming at 0.06... well, it's a different animal.

I certainly didn't mean to suggest that you were suggesting builds in that range, and of course regulated mods are entirely different as well.

    1.0 ohm = 4.2 amp draw
    0.9 ohm = 4.6 amp draw
    0.8 ohm = 5.2 amp draw
    0.7 ohms = 6 amp draw
    0.6 ohms = 7 amp draw
    0.5 ohms = 8.4 amp draw
    0.4 ohms = 10.5 amp draw
    0.3 ohms = 14.0 amp draw
    0.2 ohms = 21.0 amp draw
    0.15 ohms = 28 amp draw
    0.1 ohms = 42.0 amp draw
    0.05 ohms - 84 amp draw
0.0 ohms = dead short = battery goes into thermal runaway

I don’t think there’s a trick to making .06 coils safe with a single battery unless stupid can be considered a trick.

Idiots...actually have no idea what they're talking about, a good example of what not to do, a black eye for vaping, a big part of the problem with the general public perception of vaping, play stupid games win stupid prizes.

A unique & very skewed definition of the word safe.

Playing Russian roulette can be 'safe' 5 outa 6 times.

This thread is in the new members section where only safe & sane advice should be given especially concerning the cells we use.
This type of thing " how low can you go " on a single cell mech is neither.

The video accompniment staring 2 dill weeds with equine manure for brains spouting pure male bovine manure from their mouths, kinda chaps my posterior.

As a former employee of a reputable vape shop, these idiots make me feel ashamed to have been associated with that fraternity. I guess you can't fix stupid.

They are talking about "pulse ratings". Pulse ratings are not recognized by battery manufacturers. The term was invented by battery re-wrappers in order to sell inferior batteries. Our local battery expert on ECF has said this: Battery pulse ratings are useless! | E-Cigarette Forum

In the video, they do occassionally admit that what they are doing is dangerous. But saying that they have been vaping for 6 years and haven't had a battery incident "yet" doesn't make it right to do what they are doing.

Videos like this should be pulled from YouTube. These guys obviously do NOT know what they are talking about. If the battery gets hot enough to feel it through a tube mod, you are putting way too much stress on it. If the tube is getting warm, the battery inside is a lot hotter, and inside that battery is even hotter than the can of that battery, well beyond the safe limit of that cell.

After watching that, I feel like I got dumber. Never listen to idiots like that. Always stick with Mooch's recommendations, he actually knows what he is talking about, unlike tweedle dee and tweedle dum in that video.
