OK so since I have quit analogs I have been vaping about 3-4 carts a day in my 510. is this normal? I thought that 1 cart was supposed to be about the equivalent of 15-20 cigarettes. Is that wrong? I guess my question is this...when using a 510 how many carts does the average user vape in a day, and how many cigarettes is each cart equivalent to?

Many of us (Most??) seem to vape about 3 ml a day as an average. A 510 cart holds about 3/4 of a ml or so. 4 x 3/4 = 3 ml. You are right in the middle...:)

And, as stated above, a cart does not equivocate to a pack of smokes. 4 would be much more realistic.

But surely you are not going to waste money buying pre-filled carts? Buy some bottles of juice and fill your own....Much cheaper.

A cartridge lasts me around ten minutes before it stops delivering. For me, that's equivalent to about one-and-a-half cigarettes. I'd get through up to twenty a day, so they're a waste of time.

Keep all used cartridges and squeeze out the residue when you have a few dozen. You'll be surprised how much juice you almost threw away. Just recycle it.

When wisdom catches up with you, and it will, simply buy no more pre-filled cartridges. This will save you a truck load of money.

A cigarette doesnt JUST contain nic, it contains nic + 4k other chemicals - E liquid is mostly nic and a carrier medium + flavor (there are chemicals in flavors but none of them to my knowledge are carbon monoxide or arsenic)
Cig smoke (not vapor) is also mostly absorbed through lungs and EJuice through the mouth lining.
Ejuice and Cigarettes are NOT comparable imo.
Honestly I wouldnt worry overly about it - just keep an eye on your nic level, stop if you feel ill or have a headache and you should be fine.

The equivalency is in the amount of nicotine in a cartridge & a pack of smokes.
A cart holds about the same amount of nic as a pack of cigs, depending on your strength liquid & of course the amount of nic found in any given brand of smokes.

Of course your body doesn't absorb all the nic in a cart, just as you would not absorb everything from cig smoke.
IMHO & from what I've read absorption of nic from e-liquid isn't as optimized as it is in smoking-- so you definitely are not vaping the equivalent of a pack worth of smokes.

By the way I refill +/- 4-5x a day.

I already buy my own juice and fill my own carts. I was just curious as to how long a cart should be lasting and wanted to make sure that I wasn't vaping like 3-4 packs worth a day.

To give you an idea:

An analogue cig contains about 8mg of Nicotine total. A smoker only gets to absorb 1-2 mg of this total when it is smoked. So, in theory, a 20-a-day smoker would absorb 40 mg nicotine approx (based on 2 mg per cig).

If your e-liquid is at 16 mg it would take 2.5 ml ( about 100 drops) to equal 40 mg. Now I don't belive when you Vape you get 100% efficiency with absorbing Nicotine from the vapour you inhale. So about 3 ml should roughly equate to a pack of 20 analogues a day based at 16 mg/ml liquid.

This, of course, is dependant on a lot of different variables, like how deep you draw, how long you hold it, etc, etc.

In the end, let your body be your guide....it will tell you if you're getting too much (but in saying that....try not to over do it too. Moderation is the key in all things). :)

While i use a 510 atty on my silver bullet, I learned early on that dripping was the way to go. While carts serve their purpose in some situations like driving, the best results and best taste truly do come from dripping. Try it you might like it. BTW Mods are really the way to go too. If your new you're probably still not over the whole " I need a PV that looks and feells like a cigarette". But i'll tell you that fumbling with those crappy little batteries really sucks. A good mod like the silver bullet is gunna give you options and operating time not matched by little 510's.

You don't. Not even close. Its about 10-20% absorbed, and that depends as you said, on your vaping technique. Its a common thing for new vapers to want to equate carts/juice mL and strength to number of analogs. You simply can't with any accuracy. The nic is not even absorbed the same way (vaping=oral and throat, smoking=lungs). And as you continue to vape, you will see that they are very different, on several levels.

As Chief_White_Cloud said, let your body decide. If you chain vape compulsively, you might want to cut back on the nic level. But in the beginning it is often a good idea to vape as much nic as you want, even if it is more than what you would have smoked, to kill cravings if you are trying to reduce or eliminate analogs. If you get woozy or racing heart or nauseous you've taken in a bit much nic. Over time, many gradually and naturally start reducing nic.
