okay so today, I vaped through four crown tanks on 3 mg of nic. So if I'm doing my math right, that's 48 mg of nic in one day. I don't have any symptoms or anything of nic poisoning and that's a whole different story. I just feel like I'm vaping too much.... anyone else have this problem haha I just can't seem to put the vape down

Research I've read about says the smoke from one cigarette has 1mg of nic. I vape 7 ml of liquid per day with 10mg nic per ml of liquid = 70mg of nic per day, 2 1/2 times what I was exposed to with smoking 25 cigs a day. I know there is more nic in my system day to day than there was with smoking but that doesn't tell me much.

I've also seen 2 mg per cigarette, although there's is so much variability in those figures depending on your smoke style and the source of the informaiton. There is also great variability with vaping, with low watt MTL high nic, to subohm airy clouds with low nic, all of which will affect how much you actually absorb as a "dose".

I currently vape ~3ml of 24 mg, which would work out to 72 mg, or 36 cigs using the 2 mg figure. Which is actually about right for me coming from a pack and a half a day. I'm not sure it's even necessary to try and equate the amount vaped to smoke though. So long as it's enjoyable, and you're not making yourself ill from too much nicotine I wouldn't worry.

Yes and no, the same way a cigarette has 8mg and you absorb 1mg, when vaping you get about a third of what you read in the bottle so, your 7ml of 10mg is about 23mg in your body. And for @Newtothevapelyf3 you are getting closer to 15mg.

You can tell you are vaping "too much" when A) you get nic sic or B) you can't afford e-liquid anymore.

Vaping is much less efficient at delivering nic than cigarettes. There is plenty of nic left in the cloud you exhale. I use 5mls of 6mg a day. If I used 7 lozenges at 4mg strength a day it would make me sick. Delivery is different across the board between vaping, cigs, and NRTs from my experience.

Research I've read about says the smoke from one cigarette has 1mg of nic.

depending on the cig brand and strength. Some are only 0.8 and some are 0.5 or less, whcih is actually substantial when trying to advise a new vaper about what strength eliquid they should be starting at.

Formula is loosely (i.e. will put you into the ballpark of what nic level a newbie should start at): 1 pack a day = 20 x 0.8 (in my 0.8* example above) = 16 so 16mg would be a good place for them to start.

(*you have to look up your brand in the tobacco/cig brand database to get that 0.8 number which corrersponded to my brand)

I was seriously over-nicked when I started here, (despite the fact that vaping delivers less nic than a cig) becuase people on the forum just gave me a blanket strength "you smoked a pack a day, you need 18-24mg eliquid".

Of course, I didn't KNOW why I was 1) sick, 2) jittery, 3) anxious until some kind person PMed me here and figured out what I should have been vaping. Everyone kept telling me these were symptoms of "quitting cigarettes"......... BUT IT WASN'T!!!!

Turns out I was supposed to be doing 12mg or less. AS SOON as I lowered my nic I was comfortable again and it is what allowed me to vape full time and quit cigs.

If you feel like you're going through too much liquid, you could always try higher mg/ml and lower power. There are a LOT of variables.

@Racehorse The thing is the set up has a lot to do with the recommended strength and maybe the where not taking that into account, with your formula I should have started at 24mg and I would have died since I started with an Ijust2.

GOOD POINT @TheMike21.

subohm setup, etc. would make a huge difference. My formula was based on old fashioned tootle puffing LOL

To the OP, your at 3 mg. Why worry about it? I go through 7 to 8 ml of 18mg a day and my cardiologist says keep on doing whatever you are doing. He hasn't seen improvement like mine even in folks who have quit the analogs. Whether he is happy with my results or not depends on his need for cash and the surgeries I used to have. I just had my first stress test in 4 years and everything looked great. Checkout the BBC report on vaping and you will see that the nicotine from vaping does not effect your cardiovascular system like nicotine from smoking. If you aren't seeing negative health or evidence of nic poisoning (not likely), then you are fine.

You know what I have noticed lately? I also reduced my Coca Cola intake, and I am getting a head ache after 6 hours of being awake, at first I thought it was nic overdose or dehydration but water doesn't cure it, coke does, maybe my body is not too happy with my healthier life choices
Sounds to me like you're strung out on caffeine?

That could be it, I moved from 4 cups of coffee, 8 canned cokes and 30 cigs a day to 2 cups of coffee, 1 can of coke and 8ml of e-liquid a day. AND MY BODY COMPLAINS?
Caffeine withdrawal is no picnic. The last time I cut caffeine out of my diet(unintentionally) I had bad headaches for a week. I've been cutting back on soda lately, but I've had to increase my morning coffee intake a bit to offset it.

Don't know how much but I remember the first cig I smoked after quitting for a month it got me light headed. And I was using 2-3ml of 24 mg back then. Could be the asorbtion is different or the lack of oxygen and other crap that got me light headed.

It is different.

Smoke molecules are much smaller than vapor and are absorbed by your lungs quite efficiently. Thus: instant cigarette buzz. OTOH larger vapor molecules are primarily absorbed my the mucosa linings in your mouth and nasal passages - it's a much slower and very inefficient process. If you are vaping that much you feel anything close to a cigarette type buzz, chances are you aren't gonna be feeling so good for a couple hours afterward.

Also, due to the inefficient nature of nic absorption from vaping you don't take in any more than 1/3 to 1/4 of the nic in liquids. You don't vape a ml of 12 mg/ml liquids and get 12 mg of nicotine out of it. In this scenario it's more like only 3 to 4 mg.
