Well, I hear that big simmering caldera they call Old Faithful is overdue for an eruption of epic proportions...

That's the Yellowstone super volcano east of me. To the west, the Juan de Fuca subduction zone extending all the way to Vancouver Island is also due a mega quake. Just what I need...

Here's my take-They tried banning alcohol in the 30's. We know how that turned out. Since then they have tried banning maryjane-we all know that no matter how much they have tried, they can't do it. If demand is there, people will find a way. With the government the way it is now, fighting over every little thing, I doubt very much they will unite to ban e-cigs. Heck, our president is struggling with nicotine addiction (does he use e-cigs?) and John Boehner, the Republican house speaker, is a smoker. I don't think anything like a ban will happen. If it does, I'm moving to Costa Rica.:2cool:

The difference between Obama + Boehner and us is that we pay our own vaping expenses and we pay for their smokes. You don't think they actually send their aids out with their $20 bills, do you? Higher taxes mean nothing to them.

edit: Costa Rica is no good. An ECF member there says getting e-cig stuff is tough. :)

All we have to worry about it taxes folks. They most certainly tax any and all nicotine containing fluids.

I predict the cheapest way to vape will to stock up on high-level nicotine juice (100 mg/mL) and spike your favorite flavors. I think juices with no nicotine will be tax-free other than a normal state/county sales tax.

I don't think the government has the power to ban the equipment. It's just metal, wires, and plastic.

As far as I know without an act of congress, the FDA can mess with the nic and nothing else. Considering the fact that people use the devices for dieting as well as nicotine delivery, I doubt they will mess with them. Also most of the materials needed to make them are dual purpose. So, I don't see laws against the devices. Go in any head shop. You'll see all kinds of things that only have one purpose. They still sell them.

Again the only place to attach a tax is the nic itself.

I have no regrets about stocking unflavored in 2009.

Here is what might happen:

1) You love chocolate-bananna-blackberry. Vaping 18 mg is working for you. You believe one of these scare threads and stockpile a whole bunch of it.

2) You think that you might want quit altogether so to prepare for that event, you stockpile 0 mg nic in chocolate-bananna-blackberry.

3) Months later, the constant urge to smoke returns, so you go to 24 or even 36 mg.

4) You realize how much you miss the taste of tobacco and that vaping chocolate-bananna-blackberry is just not working.

5) You wake up to the fact that buying juice will be more expensive than you thought it would be.

6) You end up with $300 worth of chocolate-bananna-blackberry in your fridge while you continue to vape 36 mg Dekang Camel.

Unless you know EXACTLY what you will be vaping in six months, which most of us don't, stockpiling is an expensive and dumb idea.

HTH,
Dave
