How many of you quickly switched to other flavors as your main vape and how many have stuck with tobacco flavors?

It seems to me that the majority of people here switched over from tobacco flavors very quickly, I know I did. Within a week I was mainly vaping coffee flavors, and then I moved onto baked goods flavors.

I'm writing a paper advocating electronic cigarettes as a harm reduction alternative to combusted tobacco for a college course (45yrs old, and back to school - sigh) and I'd like to have at least an informal poll to use as data as a supporting point.

I'll post the paper (6 double-spaced pages) when I'm done and its graded. Most of my material has to be from peer-reviewed journals (5 articles so far) some published raw data (2 sources) but I'm allowed some anecdotal evidence.

Thanks!

I switched to non-tobacco flavors after trying many of them I didn't like. The other flavors, especially cherry were very enjoyable until I started craving the taste of tobacco. Now I'm back to using tobacco and coffee as my main vapes, along with an occasional cigarette.

Right now there is no way to predict how much you will crave the flavor of tobacco in the future. Just remember that you can have pretty close the flavor, and you have my permission to smoke an occasional cigarette if need be :)

HTH,
Dave

I'm going full circle. I started like most with tobacco flavors but they weren't good and added flavoring to them and went to many non tobacco flavors. I am finding that I am having a difficult time wanting to stay away from analogs so I am trying different. Tobacco flavors in the hope that it will help with the cravings. That said I will never stop trying new flavors. Some of my favorites are coffe, vanilla, and coconut.

I was always a menthol smoker so when i bought my first e cig it came with tobacco flavored carts and i didnt like them. When i made my first juice purchase i bought 11 flavors 1 of them was 555 (because i like hazelnut not because of the tobacco part) the rest were fruit or menthol. I liked the 555 sample i bought but haven't really gone back to tobacco since. Most suppliers have more of a selection of fruit/food/drink flavors than tobacco which could also be a reason i buy more non-tobacco juices.

I started with Tobacco flavors too, mostly because I was new to the whole ecig thing and just couldnt decide on risking not liking a fruit flavor.

Me personally, I found that citrus stuff like Oranges , Grapefruits, Peaches, Orange Juice, etc helped to ease the craving for the taste of the cigarette ( for lack of a better way to describe it, I was going to say taste of tobacco, but I dont think tobacco tastes like cigarettes.. )

...anyway, when i decided to branch out and try some other juice(s) i was really happy to see the mandarin orange flavored juice at madvapes, Im glad I purchased it, but I still keep some tobacco flavor around, I cant see trying to enjoy a beer and want the action of smoking and puff on some fruit flavor that just throws off the enjoyment of the beer (as an example..).

Myself personally... I started off with straight Menthol because I smoked Menthol analogs and just loved the cool and minty throat hit you get.

I got bored rather quickly and have ventured off to other flavors, but for some reason I just keep coming back to my Liberty-Flights Menthol as my all day vape. I just love the stuff.

Although, now I think I want to start trying some tobacco flavors. So I guess I'd say I'm the opposite, I started with everything else but tobacco, but now want to move to tobacco and try it!

I was a Djarum Black smoker (cloves) and absolutely *hated* the taste of normal cigarettes. So, not too surprising I am not a fan of tobacco flavors. I have an RY4 I like- the Want2Vape version with the actual extracted tobacco flavor, plus caramel and vanilla- but that is literally *it* in terms of tobacco flavors I use. I tried to find a Djarum Black dupe for a while but gave up after about a half dozen or a bit more tries. There just isn't anything out there that's both close and enjoyable to vape for me- dessert flavors are definitely what I prefer by far.

I must have 25 Mods set up all running at once all loaded with a different flavor it's the bomb

Ditto for me. I keep 13 mods at my desk (I'm self-employed and work at home), 12 more at my bedside, and 3 in my car---each loaded with a different flavor juice. Only 2 or 3 of those are purely sweet or fruit flavors. The rest are tobacco vapes, but only one or two are "straight" tobaccos. The vast majority are blends that use some so-called tobacco flavor as a base but have other flavors mixed in, either purchased that way or DIY blended myself.

I agree with the many posters in the thread who stated the obvious truth: "Tobacco" vape flavors don't taste anything like smoking did. Some cigar and pipe flavors get into the ballpark, but that's because many pipe and cigar real tobaccos are flavored. Cigarette simulations---Marlboro, Camel, etc.---don't even come close. And that's fine with me. Vaping tastes way, way better than smoking ever did, and the last thing I need or want is to replicate the actual flavor of smoking.

On the other hand, the "pure" sweet and fruit flavors do not hit the bull's eye of perfect replication either. I mean, vaping "fudge brownie" juice is nothing like actually eating a fudge brownie. Even the more accurate sweet/fruit/liquid flavors are merely reminiscent of the real food and drinks. They remind us of the flavors we enjoy in eating and drinking.

In my opinion, vaping is uniquely its own experience, not a substitute for something else. Happily, every vaper has hundreds, if not thousands of flavor choices. For me personally, so-called "tobacco" flavors are incorrectly named but remain at the heart of what makes vaping so special and satisfying.

Cigarettes were always like a dysfunctional love affair with someone you were compulsively drawn to but hated (and who hated you equally in return). Vaping---especially when all the components of gear and juice combine as one hopes---is like a best friend who knows you very well, treats you with respect and kindness, and is always there to support you through thick and thin. Even the hassle of PVs that break, attie/cartos/tanks that don't perform as advertised and/or fail in a hundred ways, and juices that often disappoint are basically akin to the inevitable challenges of misunderstandings or disagreements that one has to work through in any really great friendship.

I realized fairly early on that food flavors were giving me very strong analog cravings as if I had just eaten. So I have to avoid vaping food flavors alone the first 2 months. However, after about 6 weeks I started changing up my tobacco flavor by adding a bit of cocoa or chocolate, vanilla or caramel to the tobacco. Most cigs have cocoa in them and something sweet like honey in them so this was pretty pleasant and made it less boring to vape one flavor. I fell in love with the mixers. In the 3rd month I started being able to vape non-tobacco flavors alone.

I'm sort of the opposite. I started off with straight menthol/fruit/sweeter liquids and eventually I moved into liking some tobacco flavors. I vape Boba's Bounty most of the day, which is a tobacco flavor, albeit, a sweet one. I still vape my sweeter liquids, but Boba's is my all day.
I also started with menthol and/or sweeter liquids, since I smoked menthol analogs. I still love menthol, but I, like you, am beginning to like tobacco flavors more and more. I have Boba's on order and am looking forward to it. Have you tried the Gorilla Juice, Levi?

I started with menthol since I was a menthol smoker, never tried tobacco flavors, don't appeal to me. I prefer fruity flavors, dessert flavors and bakery flavors, and I have quite a collection. When I am overwhelmed by choices, I go for my menthol, which I sweetened up a bit with Ez-Sweetz sucralose to soften the menthol a bit. However, my favorite flavor changes daily. I guess you'd call me a flavor junkie. I want to experience it all, except tabacco flavors.
