I just got my first rdta too, why am I not getting the same flavor as the rta I had b4? Or am I not used to a full blown drag?

now i am no expert at these rebuildables rdta rda etc but my rda is 22mm (and has buttom airflow ) and my rdta is 24mm i find that it makes a huge diffrence (the size) in the flavor i had also messed around with the coil placement and wicking and the airflow placement and find that also have a huge part to play. to me its become like a hobby i have some rdas and rdtas to mess around with. and then i have some solid rtas i take to work and vape when i am going anywhere

That's probably where I'm not hardened yet, it's my first ever build on a double deck and it took me a while to even get it to connect, so I'll probably need some time to get it right

@OP sorry if I hijacked your thread man, didn't mean it

When it needs to be changed or when I change flavors. Back when I did reviews of full lines of 6 juices for example. I would change the wick before each new flavor so they wouldn't mix. If the cotton is black and coil is gunky, I would rewick. With unflavored, I'd go a month or longer without changing it. This only happened if I burnt cotton from being dry.

Every atomizer will be a little different.
Lots of other variables at play also.
Wicking, airflow, coil placement, chamber size, etc.
All play key roles in atomizer performance.

Most rebuildable attys are made so the user can tune them to their preferred vape.

Play around with your atty and experiment a bit.
Start slow.
Move coils up or down, closer or farther from air inlets and play with wicking.
Them move to different builds to find the best vape you can from the atty.
If that doesnt work, now you know what to look for in your next atomizer.

What RDA do ypu have? Never saw one with a chimney.
All 4 flavours good, then next morning ugh.
I change wicks when vape production diminishes..

im not sure if chimney is the right word. i got a hyon pugio i got it at a reduced price and then i got a coilart azeroth both great i am stilling learning the practice of wicking and with the pugio if you google it you can see that the coils is not gonna stand infront of eachother. but i only made 1 build on it so on the next i will place them alined and that will probaly do the trick.

by sweet do you mean light juice. i noticed that if i drip a very dark juice on it and then go over to a lighter the darker color stays in the wick

I guess the juice is medium darkness:) as it's darker than my menthol flavors. here's a pic

There is no hard or fast rule to this. Different juices burn differently, different air flows affect how long the wicks last, and then the coil itself also plays a huge part. How well the wicking is in the first place probably plays the most significant part in how long it lasts. As general rule I change my wicks when I can see a visible glaze on the coils, it looks dull matt shiny, just like a glassed donut, it has some depth to it which tells me it is building up. When in doubt, let your taste buds tell you or just endeavor to get good at it. "Practice makes perfect" is probably the clearest way of describing a good vaping experience. Once you are good at it, changing wicks usually only takes a few minutes with the less complex RDA`s.

I change my wicks every 3-5 days. I vape sweet juice (I DIY e-juice) and most of my flavors are fruit flavors and then I add a little sweetener to them to my liking. Like someone else said in the thread that the sweeter the juice the worse it gunks up due to the sugars caramelizing on the coils.

When I was vaping premium juice I had a couple ADV but now, making my own I like all of them and can't vape on just 1 juice all day. I have at least 2 flavors with me at all times. After 2-3 days vaping 2 or more flavors (sometimes sooner if I have a day or 2 off and chain vaping all day) I will need to change my wicks.

Some people will say that you need to change your coils every couple weeks. I have a couple RDA's (I have about 8 RDA's and probably 3 or 4 RTA's) that have had the same coils in for probably a month or more and have life left in them before I need to retire them to the trash can (I run either dual alien's, dual staggered fused claptons or dual 22g or 24g single wire coils). You can build a coil and when you need to clean it or change your wick you can do as I do. I will take the old wicks out, dry fire the coils to burn off whatever gunk that was on them. Quench them with filtered water or distilled water (I have a 120ml bottle that is strictly for filtered water for just that purpose) and then they will be clean and cool ready for new cotton. Re-wick and go. You will find what what works best for you and what doesn't. That's the beauty of vaping and this community cause what works for you may not work for me and visa versa so it's all personal preference. Also, most people wouldn't hesitate giving you some secrets that they have learned or found that works for them. Wish you the best of luck in this new journey of your vaping hobby.
