How much e liquid would be like 20 Marlboros?

I know it's difficult to work out, but how much 18mg e juice would be the equivalent to 20 Marlobros / golden virginia filtered roll ups?

I just want to be sensible in the amount I vape and limit my vaping sessions to outside at the back door.

What I don't want to do is Vape inside the house and increase my nicotine habit and dependency.

Thanks

Bob

Bob, it is really a question for what takes care of the cravings for you. A general average juice usage is about 2-5ml a day and the percentage of nicotine is different for each but it is suggested to be about 12-18mg for a pack a day smoker. I smoked Marlboro Reds and a pack a day and started with 24mg and I still keep some around just in case.

You can get one bottle of 24mg and another of the same flavor 12mg and if the 24mg is too high, you can mix it with the lower nic 50/50 and lower it to 18mg. You cannot make too light of nicotine stronger though and the amount of nic for you determines your success level.

Drummerskey is spot on. It really boils down to its equal to the amount that you find to be a satisfactory replacement. Every person has a slightly individual journey. For me, in the beginning, I really chain vaped. My theory was to vape away the "want to smoke" moments. As those got further apart and smaller, so did my use as well as my nicotine %.

Now I use 0,3,6 mg and vape whenever I want. :) You just have to find the method and amount that work.

^^^^ What drummer said plus also keep in mind that the topper you use and the temperature you vape at will affect how much juice you go through. Since that is such a variable thing, the mls of juice used in a day, it is my opinion also that especially for someone new at this, it is more important to get your nic level right. That is the first key to success! Best of luck to you!

Excellent post right here from drummerskey.

I will just add that all research suggests that the absorption of the nicotine in vapor is lower than with cigarettes due to the molecule size. So even if it were possible to answer your question directly with an equivalent amount of liquid, you would need to vape more than you smoked to absorb the same amount of nicotine.
As each person will absorb differing amounts of nicotine due to device and setup as well as inhalation technique (among other things), it's really impossible to even come up with a ballpark figure that makes sense.

I understand where you are coming from though, I too had the same concerns when I first started. I mean whatever justification we have for vaping, we are just replacing the nicotine delivery system, the nicotine dependence (or addiction if you prefer) remains.

I would suggest you just vape when you feel the need to reduce the cravings at first and then reduce either the frequency of vaping or the nicotine content in your liquid when you have established a vaping routine.

If I drip with a 2.2 ohm 306, I use 3 ml per day. But, some delivery systems may use 10 times that amount. It depends on what type, the resistance, the voltage you're using, and your own style.

But, all that matters is to do what you need to do to avoid smoking first. Once that's under control, you can decide where you want to go from there.

20 Marlboros are going to have more nicotine than one milliliter of 18mg juice.

Ordinary e-liquid doesn't have all the alkaloids of tobacco. When those are absent, many people tend to vape more and consume more nicotine than they would if they were smoking cigarettes.

If you are trying to quit smoking I wouldn't worry about increasing your nicotine dependence by vaping. You worry about that after you quit smoking.

Hey, whatever works for you. Some people cannot do 0% because they still smoke cigarettes or go back to it. For some, it is mental and just the "act of" or similar actions satisfy the need. As stated, you can do 24mg, 18mg, 12mg or 0mg............whatever keeps you off the cigarettes.

The juice, IMO is cheap so it isn't that hard to try a bunch and get more if you need it, it is just a pain if you have to wait for it to be shipped to you.

Don't fret over nic dependency. Vape wherever you want to, just vape enough so that you don't crave smokes. Each person has a different need in vaping. Getting all of those toxins out of your system that cigarettes have is the important part. Once you have conquered that, then you can drop your nic and vaping down if you wish. You can have the nic out of your system in 3 days or so, not so with the 4000 other chemicals cigarettes have pumped into you. Good luck and good vaping!!

It kind of frustrates me this topic is so "off piste".

There are things we know, just some things we don't.

We know that 25 puffs from a gen.2 device (evod and eGo) with 36mg liquid releases 5mg of nicotine in the vapour. After that, we are nearly clueless, as release is not the same as yield. But, using that particular experiment, it's not a huge guess to suggest the same 25 puffs with 18mg liquid will release 2.5mg.

There is another method, which I use from time to time. I won't explain it, but in essence it's possible (though not proven) the percentage we get in YIELD is around 1/3rd of the total liquid used.

Please note though, 25 puffs from a basic e-cig (look-a-like) will be far, far less. Probably not even 1 cigarette.

So do you guys think 18mg is a sensible strength to start with?

Yes. I smoked the same as you (in nicotine) and used 24mg in cig-a-likes before buying an eGo e-cig and dropping to 18mg.

I used 2ml a day for the first YEAR of vaping. I felt it was a small drop in nicotine.

Here's my theory. 20 marlboros equal one pack. If you smoke(d) one pack a day( as I did) than I equate that to the 3.5 ml of juice I use a day at 24mg. So one pack of cigs = 3.5ml of 24mg juice. Adjust that to your individual usage, nic dosage and you may have a reasonably accurate answer to the original question. I also am taking in consideration that I "feel" I am using around the same amount of nicotine as I did when I smoked.
