Also for consideration is the extra trips to town I used to make JUST to get a pack or two of smokes. I live a ways out of town so a good gallon of gas each trip, a few times a week.
I suppose I no longer buy Bic lighters too. Though a pittance at 1.50 every three weeks there is a few more dollars there.
I have acquired tangible assets so even at a heavy loss from selling I actually would be ahead on the real $'s in the game.

I'm not positive, but I'll try and do the math..

I was a 2 PAD smoker, I'd buy one pack in the morning, and usually one later at night (or two in the morning if I was thinking ahead). In New Jersey, that's about 16$/day.

I've been vaping for ~380 days (give or take a few "cheat" days), 380*16 = $6080.00

But then take into account the money I've spent on vape gear.. Probably around $860 or $1000 (I'm just assuming I've spent ~$500 on juice since I started, could be more.)

So realistically, I've saved about $5000. And probably my life.

Just a quick calculation. It is the 40th week of the year X $45.00 (est. for 1 carton) = $1,800. So far this year because I have frozen some nic and restocked DIY supplies, I have spent $287.35 (yes I keep track because I am ....) so it looks like I have saved roughly $1,512.65. Although this total does not include BIC lighters and lighter fluid for my zippo.

But can you really put a price on the joy vaping has brought me? The people here I simply adore? The hours ecf has been there for me when I can't sleep? The fun I've had? The added health benefit? Extended life expectancy? Nicer smelling clothes?

I think NOT.

Did I mention the fun I'm having?

Pretty sure I broke even a month or two ago; but knowing that, I've also been spending more again recently trying to get good rebuildables to make coil rebuilding easier than fighting with protank grommets.

I'd be well ahead if fasttech shipments would reach my location more reliably; most of their shipment options are unavailable to me, and paying a $50+ option is a bit of a stretch.

$2,907.16 It would have been over $3,000.00 but I just bought a bunch of liquid on a sale that never hardly happens with my preferred vendor.

I have been vaping over 2 years now and I have acquired a couple of more expensive things. This savings takes into consideration liquids that I have bought but have since PIF'd (pay it forward). Can't take that cost off the sheet. Nor the nova's that I no longer use but still have Just in Case. Nor the twists that I still have....should just give those to my daughter now that she is vaping more regularly. :D

My signature says @ 12 grand and I believe it with smokes 15 bucks for a 25 pack here and 2 of us smoking pack a day. I could easily say I've spent $2500 on my vape journey not including our 2 provari's and thats no where near the 12 grand we've been spending on smokes for years previous.

Well, if I had to guess I am in the red this time. My guess is $1400 spent in the first two months on two people. We will have saved about half that, so $700 in the red. Normally I MYO cigarettes but due to many reasons was buying 2-4 packs a day of camels.

Started in 2008 spent about $160 gave up because it sucked.

Fast forward to 2014 I have spent roughly $800 in the first month for my wife and I. I will probably spend another $600 in the next month or so. We will both have REO's and most likely several years of DIY.

In the end, I will break even financially in 2-3 years. Assuming an additional $1000-$1500 spent in that time. This is a lifestyle change and I view it as an investment in the most important thing in the world. That being my and my wife's health. I don't care if I never break even.

My sig shows zero dollars saved but that is because when I switched to vaping I was paying $10.00 a pound for tobacco and a dollor a carton for cig tubes. That was just before the feds put a $25.00 a pound tax on loose tobacco. I used almost 6 pounds a month ($66.00). I spend about $90.00 a month on vaping stuff, but if I quit buying today I would probably have enough stuff to last for 10 or 15 years. Most of my buying now is just stockpiling supplies for a possible FDA armegedon.

Tax (fed, state, + state sales tax on the tax) equals $3.18 per pack here. Two packs per day times 365 days/year equals $2,321.40 just in tax for a year. Vaping? Probably $500.00/year max. It could be $1,000.00 and I would still have saved/not spent $1,321.40 as compared to the coffin nails. Notice I didn't figure in the additional cost of the cigarettes!
