Corner shop - used to buy a ... (cigarette for the Americans) and a match with my pocket money.
When i got my paper round i used to buy 5 Park Drive or 5 Woodbine.
Cannot remember how much, but it was 1963.

There was an arcade in town which had a bagatelle machine and you could win a ciggy,
but they were really stale, most probably been in the machine for months.
I used to use my bus fare and walk home - win or lose.

We used to go under the house and smoke under there and I'm surprised, to this day, we never burnt the frickin house down!
How stupid we were.
And I would use my whole one dollar allowance to buy that 35 cent pack, too.
When that ran out, I would wait for my dad to go to the bathroom and I would steal a few of his Salems.

If cigarettes were under a dollar when I started, I might have never quit. I think my first pack was $3.10 or so, around '97.

I really don't remember. A pack of cloves was always between 6-8 dollars even when I started in my late teens.

My first pack of analogs was Rothmans and cost me under 2 shillings and was bought in the early 60's. I did say when the price kept rising when they got to 3 bob(shillings) I would give them up!!! I did, tho not at 3 shillings, many times and one more time I took em up again!! However loving the vaping and don't miss the durries at all. Haven't worked it out but maybe my vaping @ 3 mls a day, 6 - 12 mg nic is not costing me much more than that 3 shillings (roughly 30 cents) especially as I do a bit of d.i.y. Today a pack costs about $18+ here. Cheers all and Vape on!!!

My first pack was free - buddy of mine left them in my truck on accident. I was 19 and a non-smoker at the time and sometimes I think back at that moment of picking up his pack of Newports and lighting one up out of curiosity and I think dang it, if he hadn't been so absent-minded....

Truth is, I would have tried them eventually - I only joke about blaming him. First pack I actually bought was about $1.65 if I remember correctly.

In 1963 i was 10 yrs old and got Marlboro reds from the vending machine for a quarter.
Yep, I am older than dirt and smoked for 49 years until i started vaping in May of last year.

I forget how much they were when I started back in the early 80's. But my preferred brand before I started vaping was 9.00 a pack(Virginia Slims Menthol). But I settled for Pall Mall Whites for $7.00. I am so glad I vape. So glad.

I see a lot of people saying cigarettes cost $5-6 per pack nowadays. If that was here in NY, I probably would still be smoking. My last pack of American Spirit Menthols cost me $11.25.

I was in New Orleans 2 years ago and bought them for about $4 per pack. I thought that was the deal of the century.

In 1953 my mom sent me to White castle, vending machine put 15 cents in for pallmall got 2 cents back in the pack.
My first back bought in 1958 paid 18 cents.
