It's easier to educate if we have our own facts straight. The piece on Hookah Pens wasn't on Fox News. It was on a local Fox Broadcasting channel. You know, like NBC and CBS have local channels that cover news. Fox Broadcasting does, too. It's not the same as Fox News. There is nothing about hookah pens on Fox News channel's website. Your local NBC station isn't the same as MSNBC and your local Fox station isn't the same as Fox News.

You are correct, sorry.

Nonetheless, my point is that propaganda and disinfo is purposefuly being spread, whether it is through local news agencies, or nationwide ones.

The piece was terribly bias, and quite obviously part of an agenda.

Just a friendly word of warning here people. I'm a retired LEO.

DO NOT HOLD THE METAL OBJECT IN YOUR HAND WHEN STOPPED BY THE PO PO. If it's mistaken for a gun barrel, you could get your a## shot. Please place it in the seat or your shirt pocket and keep your hands on the steering wheel and in the officer's view at all times. If you need to move your hands, tell the officer what your intentions are.

I would recommend against hiding your vaporizer from the cops when pulled over. If you are not comfortable educating a member of law enforcement on nicotine vaping then do not use your device while driving. Hiding the device will make you feel guilty or nervous and most cops will smell this a mile away. Your mannerisms will change. If they do find the PV hidden afterwards it will make them extremely suspicious. Using a cigalike while driving is a great suggestion if you do not want any questions. The devices most of us use are indeed dual purpose so law enforcement suspicions are warranted. This is not a matter of misinformation or Fox news. The truth is there is no difference between our PVs we use as an alternative to smoking and those used for other means.

Excellent advice. I grew up in a city were the cops were really bad and crime was high. If the cops bothered to shop up where you were you had better high tail it outta there because it was going to get bad.

Now I live in a city that has low crime and cops with enough time for the police to do some prevention rather then reaction. The few times I have had to be stopped or spoken with officers I've always had no trouble just following simple rules of respect and cooperation. Not all cops are as bad as the ones you hear about, if you act like they are you are going to make life much harder on yourself then it has to be.

What's crazy is that I live in a state where a substance that is illegal most everywhere else was just made legal. I wouldn't get harassed at all for THAT, unless I was intoxicated, but I know one guy who claims anyway that he was stopped with his APV... something about a laser.

Common teen prank is to drive around with laser pointers and blind other drivers on the road. I can see how some PVs could be mistaken for a laser pointer.

Don't have a link, but you can walk into any "smoke shop" and many vapers' B&Ms and see them. Here in California they're willing to discuss them pretty openly with you. The ones I've seen look similar to many of the mods I've seen on vaping websites.

I dunno if I would go as far as calling them vapers brick and mortars.Seems as if they are a little confused. We gain nothing by being associated with either the substance or the culture.

Unfortunately, those devices used for illegal purposes are also called 'vaporizers' ... of course they are sold as being devices for tobacco or other 'herbs' and I do think in some cases they actually are used for that purpose. Sadly, most anything can be abused and/or used outside of it's original intent in some form or another.

I took my wife to a concert Thursday night and the door security doing lite pat downs noticed the top of my pv in my shirt pocket and suggested I put in my pocket till I got into the show. I told him it was just nicotine and I quit smoking over 4 months ago. He was surprised it wasn't a (MODERATED) as some refer to them.

It is very easy and understandable for a police officer to confuse the two as they can look almost exactly identical. I have never had any issues when driving or even parked outside a 7-11 killing time before going to work next to patrol cars. If they really think that you are doing something illegal and do not believe your explanation of what it is they can always use there test kit to be sure of what it is. There is no way for them to legally arrest you or confiscate your vaping gear. Not yet anyway

I get pulled over all the time because my local police hate me. But that's not important. I had my ProVari with a tank on it and got pulled over, I left it in my center console cup holder. When the cop walked up to my car he asked me what was in the center console and I told him all about it. He thought it was pretty cool once he realized what it was. Told him all about it and educated him a little bit. I have been stopped and cops have given me serious grief about it before.
I don't know if I'm supposed to be talking about this on the forum but... here goes nothing. As far as "drugs" go, there are those stupid (MODERATED) things that are pretty much a 120 dollar ego kit. And there is also a way to make ........ e-liquid and I guess you could put in in a tank or something.. SORRY MODS don't get mad. ;) Just spreading knowledge so other people know what the cop meant by illegal substances.

Edited by classwife :
those substances are not to be mentioned on ECF at all

Please remember the police are not required to follow the same laws that we are. They are NOT your friends. They are tax agents for the government. They can and will do ANYTHING they please. AVOID interactions with police.
