How often do you change coils?

I change mine every 2 days, because I find that the taste gets worse after that. And the only flavor I vape is menthol.

I wonder what is the cause for the taste deterioration and if there are any negative health effects with vaping a coil that hasn't been changed or cleaned for awhile. (still can't be bad as cigs right?)

What tank you using? What wattage etc?

Using an Innokin Zenith with a 1.6 Ohm coil and 16 strength menthol liquid at 8 watts I reckon on 6 weeks to a coil, only changing them when they eventually flood.

I change the coil on my RTA every 4 weeks. I re-wick once a day (rayon). If not the taste drops significantly (for me).
I don't use throw away coils as it would be crazy expensive to change so frequently.

About 4 weeks sometimes longer/shorter, when they start flooding or tasting off. Using Nautilus Prime X (pods) w/ 1.8 nautilus bvc coils (and 1.0 build on nautilus rba rewicking more often though), 10-11 watts, 3mg, low % flavored eliquids - I call it hint of flavor all are clear/almost clear in color.

I change the coil on my RTA once a week. I change the wick every day and sometimes twice a day. I vape a very sweet juice. It doesn't take too long to get gunked up. Plus with the price of wicks ($0.02 each), no sense having a bad tasting vape.

For drop in coils I can go about 3 months without changing coils but I have multiple vapes in the rotation.

It really depends on your eliquid and your coils. I often vape unflavored and my coils (premade and my own) last for weeks. YMMV

I rewick every 2 weeks, new coils after 3 or 4 wick changes. Sometimes I change a wick sooner if the taste goes off. Not very scientific. Sometimes the wick looks good as new, with some juices 2 weeks is too long and the wick and coil are crudded up good. Mostly I just find it easier to keep to a schedule than try to figure out when it's time for each tank. That way I can do all the tanks at once.

For my Main Setup, a NarDa RDA with a 0.41 Ohm Single SS Coil, I usually change the Coil after 30 or 35ml of Unflavored. Which is about 7 Days

I could go Longer. Especially if I changed the wick. But I like that New Coil/New Cotton taste. So I do a New Build about every Saturday or Sunday.

Not very often as it depends on juice type. I'll dryburn and rewick if ether vapor production or flavor falls off. While coils+wick with unflavored juices last months some flavors will gunk up a setup in a matter of a few weeks.

Things that make coils go quick? Sweet or dark juices. Halo's Belgian Cocoa, although delicious, would gunk a coil in 10 to 15ml.
Higher temps/wattage will shorten the life. And I think your vaping "style" affects coil life. Do you take 3 second hits, and not the next for a few minutes? Or do you huff a lungful, then another 2, and your tank is hot to the touch?
Clear juices give coils better lifespans. Halo Torque56 is the cleanest commercial juice I ever vaped. My diy White TicTac has given me 6 or 8 weeks most times. (Oh, on a naughty mini, usually 11 to 13 watts)
On these Aspire Nautilus coils, I expect 2 or 3 weeks minimum. One of these days, given the mail apocalypse, I'll try to rebuild these coils...

It varies hugely. My PNP coils I usually get about 2 to 3 weeks out of. My rebuildable sub ohm PNP compatible coils I change the cotton every week roughly and the coil whenever fiddling around with it bends it lol And since I'm pretty new to this it's kind of often. But my RTA RDA rebuildables I change the cotton it really depends on it when I switch e-juices. Or more likely than not when I decide that I want to use a different atomizer That's usually when I end up changing it. With mesh I could have gone 3 months without changing the cotton or the coil and it would have been just fine but I ended up changing the cotton because I just thought it was ridiculous that it hadn't discolored or anything yet lol. I have four devices usually running and I think that that gives me a lot of extra life because it keeps me from chain vaping on any one device. So it just completely varies but in general I just go by when I feel like it when I'm about to put the product away Nice clean and neat or when I'm switching flavors with a rebuildable I usually re-wick. Other than that it's when I have a flavor loss flooding or that dryish flavor where you know you're going to get a burnt hit and it has nothing to do with the way you wicked

I wish I could answer more specifically. The next time I change coils in my primary tank I will take note of the date and attempt to stick to that tank until the coil needs changing again, LOL. That's a tall order for me, since my normal routine involves swapping around. But, for my own curiosity and future proofing, I need to know the answer.
I vape almost entirely unflavored, which leads to longer coil life. I'm pretty sure it's over a month. I accept the challenge.

I wonder if it's the brand of menthol liquid you have. Is it relatively pale and unsweetened? You might want to try cutting it in half with a matching PG/VG blend to see if it's just too much flavoring, something that's common in commercial liquids.

I've found simple menthol vapes last longer than average. I use a low flavoring percentage mint/menthol blend that's very pale in color and get about three weeks and 150+ ml per coil.

How often? When I feel it needs it. In my case, that's not very often, because my ADV is straight unflavored. The last time I did anything to that atty was on December 3rd, and I average 3-1/2 to 4 ml of liquid though it a day. That's a mech squonker with an MTL atty, Kanthal coil, and rayon wick.

I think the biggest factor in how often an atty needs maintenance is the liquid; some flavorings and sweetners are deadly to coils, and the few times I've tried nic salts, they were too. However, other things have an effect as well; one of them being how "right" wicking is; i.e. how well it keeps the coil wetted.
