How often do you replace your cotton and coil?

Just got myself a Reo Grand over the weekend and I've wrapped a great coil for it and threaded some cotton thru. I'm right at .9 ohms. It's been hitting awesome for about four days now. I'm noticing that my coil is looking a little bit gunky and the cotton has a little bit of brown on it where it sits inside the coil. Can I just pull the cotton, dry burn the coil to clean it and then put new cotton in? Or should I just wrap a new coil and move on. In my previous life, I knew when it was time to change out the kanger coil heads because my vape would taste burnt. Just looking to see what signs I should look for that would warrant a coil replacement.

Btw, the REOmods is by far the greatest single device I have ever owned. The RM2 is fantastic and vaping has never been so easy and enjoyable. Thanks again Bob!

Yes, you can just pull out the old cotton, dry burn and replace the cotton wick. A coil can last easily a month.

Some liquids require more frequent wick changes. With unflavored nic base I rewick about every 7 days.

Congrats and welcome :)

changing the cotton when I fill the bottle. Pretty much every other day.

That's about right. I usually change the cotton daily, but getting on the schedule of changing when you fill the bottle is a great habit. I change my coils when I get bored, which is always way more often than the coil actually needs changing.

I use 5-6ml of juice per day, and when I was using cotton I changed my wick at least daily, sometimes twice in a day if I was absent-minded and burned it. I usually build a new coil monthly or so. I switched to the READYxWICk in late March, so now I just need to do a dry burn every so often.

I find that with the thicker gauge wire, 26 and 28 ga, the coils will last a very long time. I have two coils that are over two months olf and still vape like new. I use cotton and re-wick every two or three days just for funs sake. I use Russ's adage "if in doubt sqounk" and really never burn my wicks.

Usually re wick every 2-3 days. Coils basically last for as long as you want to use them. People that are re-coiling every few days are doing it because they like to make coils, not because they need a new coil. If you have a coil that is hitting the way you like, you can use it as long as you want with a quick dry burn when you re wick.

When I used cotton I had the same experience as pesky, about 2-3 days for the wick, and I only changed my coils because I was bored after weeks of use.

I've switched over to READYxWICK which is heat treated XC-116 ceramic wick. I've found that the flavor is as good, if not better, than cotton, but it has the ability to be dry burned like silica. I've had the same wick and coil in my Igo-bf for over a month. Just dry burn and it looks and tastes as it did on day 1. Now if only I could get my batteries and juice to last this long....
