I have been using the same wick/atty head since about the 12th of this month. As long as you do a good cleaning and dry off with each refill they should last you awhile. Think I will change mine soon, but so far is still doing good and I have been vaping on it everyday. No need to change it with every refill unless you want that for some reason and have a buttload of silica. Just my :2c:.

Who said anything about using silica (other than you)?

used to be a lot less frequent.... with the stock wicks. With cotton, I can tell if it is over a day old. Seems like between my wife and I, I am forever recoiling wicks. I went to SS. Kind of a pain in the ViVi, but worth the effort. More flavor, and no burnt cotton. I have the AGA-T2+'s on order though. Time for the next best thing I guess. Over 4 years I went from C2's to Nova tanks, to ViVi Nova, and now I am going to tinker with the AGA. Good luck!

I'm late responding on this thread but was wondering the same question that the OP asked and did a google search and just found this thread. lol. I recoiled my vivi nova for the first time last night and am using a cotton wick that came from a cotton roll. Initially the flavor was slightly muted but now today it's tasting way better. I am having no leaking or dry hits at all, plus lots of vapor, and so far I'm loving it. I guess I will see how long mine lasts. I was curious about that. I made my coil first and put my cotton through after the coil was made, and then I laid a feeder cotton wick on top of it all. I slightly notched the plastic cap thingy that goes over the coil to allow more room for my feeder wick so it wouldn't choke off the wicking. I am so amazed how simple it was and how well it is working. I will post back and let you know how long this coil lasts :) I've used cotton wicks on the Igo-L and Drunker, but never have tried them until now on the vivi novas.

If the wicks are burning you're at too high of a voltage.
As for lifespan, depending on the juice I get approximately 2-4 days and just rebuild, I could make them last longer but dont really care too much.
For me it easier to just rebuild about 4 heads at a time and that should last me the week if not more.

I'm using 100% cotton yarn size #4

It's also possible if your wick is being choked and not set up to wick properly, it could get dry and burn easier. The only way I've been successful with cotton wicks is by making the coil first, torch the wire good while in the shape of your coil so it stays that way, then feed the cotton wick through. Whenever I've tried wrapping the coil around the wick, it just didn't work good. I also wrapped my coil around a small drill bit and torched it while still on the drill bit, then again after I removed the drill bit. Then I can actually push the springy coil between my fingers and make them closer together to fit the little area on the head. I retains it's shape nice and the even coil makes for less choking on the wick.

I'm revisiting this thread after posting here early June and have been continuing with the cotton wicks in the Vivi nova and really consider it my main way of vaping. The flavor is real nice. I have been changing out my wicks usually on the weekend, so about once a week. It could last longer sometimes but sometimes the cotton starts breaking down by About then in flavor. But it's fairly cheap to make a new one andi usually have several heads premade in a ziplock bag so it's fast and easy.
