I'm using a Lavatube and vaping a lot. I have a couple 2ohm cartos I have been using while waiting for 3ohm cartos to come in. So how often should I have to clean them out because it seems that I am not getting as much vapor. Then once I start using the 3ohms how often should they get clean and approx. how long will they last, will they burn out, will I know when they are in need of replacing?

It really depends on so many different factors. Higher VG juices generally clog a carto faster. I find 30% VG or less helps make them last longer. Thicker juices also dont wick as well and can burn the wick if you chain-vape bc the carto isnt wicking fast enough, and that will kill then faster. I normally vape juices that are 80/20. Also using clear juices will generally make a carto last longer. Many dark/cloudy juices contain flavoring sediments and I find sediments clog a carto faster than anything. Also, obviously, user error can def shorten the life of a carto. Keeping them wet and making sure they are filled properly helps them last longer.

I use the Ressurector cartos and I get on avg 2-4 weeks out of one carto. I use a syringe to fill them and never let them get low. I normally switch to a new carto when Im not happy with the airflow or becuase the flavor starts to taste alittle off bc of extended use. You can clean your cartos, but I dont bc I feel if I get at least 2 weeks on one carto Im getting my moneys worth so I dont even bother trying to clean them. I also find some cartos dont work as well after being cleaned so thats why I dont even bother

...my life as a SmokTech 1.7ohm Xl carto(the Resurrectors) vaping 5ml/day.............
Day 1) a bit airy...taste is great, vapor is good............
Day 2) draw has tightened a bit...taste is great and vapor has improved to great.......
Day 3) same as Day 2...............
Day 4) same as Day 3...draw has started to tighten up by end of day..........
Day 5) draw has tightened up some more but not too bad, flavor is starting to noticeably differ if not kept VERY topped up...
Day 6) draw has tightened up even more and flavor has headed South...at 1.35 each, the heck with cleaning, just toss me in the trash, start a new one and be done with it......

I wouldnt clean a carto if you dont have to. Some cartos dont work as well after they have been cleaned. If its already clogged up and you want to try to clean it to get alittle more use out of it, go for it. At least then if the cleaning doesnt help much it was already clogged and you were going to throw it out anyway.

If you use a carto correctly and always fill it correctly, you can easily get your moneys worth and never clean one.
Like I said I normally get 2-4 weeks out of one, without cleaning them. I figure even if I get 10 days out of one thats still def getting your moneys worth. If you compare it to cigs, even a week is getting your moneys worth.

Think about it. One week would be about .20cents a day. Alot of people smoked a pack a day or more when they smoked cigs. Thats avg 6-10 bucks per DAY.
A pack of cartos is about the same price as a pack of cigs, so if one carto lasts a week, youll still get over a month out of one pack of cartos. $6-10 for a pack of cartos per MONTH is A LOT less than $6-10 for a pack of cigs per DAY.

If you think about it that way, youll realize that your well getting your moneys worth, even without cleaning them.

...that's what I'm talking about...at 25cents per day for cartos Vs 10bux/day for funkarettes, just gimme a new one and toss the old one in the trash...I did try cleaning cartos a couple times, using differing techniques and none of them worked nearly as well...........

If draw is getting tight, but flavor's still good, it might be worth shoving a straigthened paper clip, or similar, into the tube from the thread end a cpl of times.
Sometimes this cleans gunk out and can extend vaping life - YMMV.
I've only tried this w single coil Boges, btw.

I've found the 5*boiling method useful for cleaning. Yes, I know they're cheap & disposable. Some of us are just born cheap, I guess ;)

I never clean cartomizers. The results are a bit of a crapshoot and if the coil has been well used it will have baked on stuff that cleaning will not fix. The only cartomizers I would ever consider cleaning are prefills I took a few drags ofo of and didn't like the flavor of because at least the coil is still in good shape.

I use thin clear juices, PG w/ 20% VG or less (though 30% will work I think 20% helps my cartos last longer) and I never use any dark, opaque or cloudy liquids that drop flavoring sediment in the stuffing because that is the fastest was to crap up a cartomizer or atomizer. I can get 7-10 days use out of a carto (or about 20ml run through it) IF I keep the carto damp enough to not singe. Once you singe a carto that bitter burnt taste will often overpower any sweetness though the carto may still be OK with tobaccos and other non-sweets.
