When vapor production and taste start to dissipate is when a good cleaning and dry burn should be done.

When you get a constant burning taste even after a clean and dry burn, it is time to replace the atomizer.

Learn how to rebuild the PT2 heads and you will be able to not only save money, but have a better vaping experience IMO.
-P.S. it is very easy to rebuild the heads!

I've found, too, that when I have to start cranking up the power to get the same vape, it's time to clean.

I'll usually at least clean my clearos every two or three fills. I'll pull off the air tube, discard the flavor wicks and examine the coil. If it looks "crusty", I'll dry burn. Otherwise, just replace the flavor wicks (I use cotton yarn) and post.

And I'll have to agree that recoiling is actually pretty easy.
