Welcome to the forums, I too tried a Blu "cig", vaping is a world of difference away. Best of luck and congrats in wanting to make a change.

Thanks much man! The Blu was 'interesting' but that was about it. And to think I was about to go run to Walgreens that night and buy the $35 starter kit without even trying em.. I held off and still dropped the $10 when I went to get my beer at 7-11 but it was a total waste of money. Puffed on it for a good 10 minutes (this was a 24mg even) and immediately went 'Yeah I need a Pall Mall' now right after. The next morning when I vaped it, it had turned from the faux 'tobacco' flavor to like a Starbucks Vanilla Latte hah. Gave it to my roommate who digs puffing on it once in awhile for the taste.
The first week I was sucking on the GS like crazy, but occasionally still going out for a smoke.. Even after two days or so of back and forth, the longer I went without a real cig, the worse it tasted, and I could already start to feel its effects on my body as a whole. The GS gets me a little amped if I vape too much but it beats wheezing and hacking up my lungs with all the extra 'goodies' that were in the Pall Malls.. Its got a decent throat hit, and the taste isnt so bad, but I see where alot of folks who were heavy smokers dont like the tobacco flavors. Theyre ok but the menthol is really good and I HATE menthol cigs.. Cant wait to jump into the world of actual flavors, some of this stuff makes me drool thinking about vaping butterscotch and grape and stuff like that hehe.
Dont even have the EVOD yet, but just from the week or so Ive been lurking on the site, Im already researching making my own juice and rebuilding the wicks and coils now haha.

Same thing happened when I picked up the guitar at 15 though.. 24 years later, Ive built plenty of my own amps and pedals in that time hahaha.

37, tried analogs when I was 11/12 (mom smoked til I was 15). Started smoking regularly when I went to college. I quit using Wellbutrin in 2006 because everyone was pressuring me to. Boy was I an angry ....*. Started up again a few months later. Then I quit again end of 2006 and that lasted 3 years (got pregnant and had a beautiful baby boy) I started smoking again when mat leave was up and I went back to work.

27yo, Started smoking when I was around 18 or 19. Had several year long periods where I would quit. At the height of my smoking I was averaging a pack and a half a day. I actually hadn't been smoking cigarettes when I started vaping. A friend of mine was quitting and was using vapes as a tool to help him with that and I tagged along with him to the local vapor shop and was hooked. I enjoy the technical aspects of it as far as it being a hobby as well as the flavor. :p

Almost 31. Started smoking regularly when I was 16. Just quit a week ago. I had not smoked for 3 days a few years ago just to see if I could do without them. Then got a free Blu in the mail just to see what it was. It was horrible so I never thought much about vaping again until I noticed all the new devices out there. I bought an EVOD kit last Thursday and yesterday bought a white Provari mini (very impatiently waiting for that to come) I wanted to quit smoking because it was getting so expensive but now I see that vaping is going to be far more expensive. But way more enjoyable.

Just curious (and hope Im not off topic here already) where did ya get the EVOD kit?? I think Im actually ordering mine from a shop near you down in Santee for like $29 but the only one they have left in stock is the silver one and while theyre on clearance Im still waiting 2 days to get and cash my paycheck so with my luck theyll be out by tuesday haha.

Well you went Provari which aint cheap but depending on what you get it usually works out cheaper on your end.. The way I see it, if what Ive read is a good average, the EVOD kit, with its 5 heads (plus the two that come with the Clearos) as a 10-15 ml bottle of juice should IN THEORY last me a month (not sure about the juice yet since Im still using cartos which are lasting me a good 2-3 days each). So if I can score the one from Sun Vapers for $30, add like $10 for a bottle of juice and thats the price of only 10 packs of smokes which is only about 10 days worth for me. If the vape keeps it going for those next 20-21 days, Ive saved about $80 just the first month. Now next month, provided my batteries dont blow up in my face, all I gotta do is probably clean the heads/wicks, and just refill my juice! But then again I dont see myself going mod crazy or really worrying about variable voltage, dual coil tanks, etc.. I just really need to crush the actual habit of smoking and this should do the trick!

41, smoked almost 31 years, been smoke free 20 days!
Good for you. It took me 1 month of garbage hardware before I read up on vaping. I am a researcher by nature but I didn't read up on it at first. Now I'm happy with my setup and all us good. I wish I had someone to talk to at first. Keep going!!! I have no desire for a cigarette.5

At first it is more expensive, or can be.
you have a nice unit, the provari mini, stick with it. No hardware in that class is going to make your vaping better.
different tanks/coil type will drastically change the flavor and vapor.
i highly recommend you avoid any and all protank 1 or 2's
i can't speak for the 3's or new unit they have but I settled on the Aspire BDC type and aside from a rebuild able it's the best flavor and experience thus far.

dont go all crazy buying mods and such as they won't get you anything other than bling.

Play with different tank/coil types but stick with the provari and you will find things are cheaper but not by much.

juice will also drain your bank if you are trying a lot of them.
i urge you and anyone to get sample kits when ever possible.
i would start with GoodLifeVapor.com as they have tons of really good quality juices ranging from fruity to exotic
spook sauce and high 5 are my favorites.

oh and I'm 42 and was smoking for almost 30yrs
they truly taste like turpentine now and I hate them, though crave them everyday.
vaping just isn't the same but I have accepted that and won't start smoking again

I been smoke free for 11 months

stick with it, it's hard and keeps being hard, but your body will thank you for it.

kind of a funny side note (no pun intended by what I am gunna say) but before vaping when I would have a good hard laugh I would cough, now... Nope, not even a glimmer of a cough when I have a good hearty laugh.
that to me is one of the biggest joys as it was embarrassing to me to laugh hard at something and end up coughing in the end because of my lungs.

lastly I am a life long migraine sufferer, had them since I was little, and since I started vaping I don't get them but a fraction of the time now. Smoking is soooo bad for people with migraines so if anything, switch to stop the headaches.

I got mine from vapingme.com. There are a ton of b&m up where I live (n. county) but I haven't been in to any of them yet. I think I spent about $80 to get started with the kit, a protank mini 2 and 5 bottles of liquid. I've been cleaning and dry burning my coils since I seem to be going through them pretty quickly (like within a day). My boyfriend is also using my spare EVOD so we are going through the 5 that come with the kit pretty fast. Think we have two new ones left and it's only been a week. I don't know if we just vape way too much or if I'm doing something wrong. I'm only a week into this and no matter how much research I do I'll never learn it all. Feels like my head is swimming with all this new information.

I ordered a carto tank for the provari, which should last in theory a few weeks compared to the coils on my clearo. I'm hoping that the almost $300 I spent for this new mod setup will pay for itself in a few months. I was spending almost $200 a month on cigarettes so it should work out. Cartos are cheaper than coil heads (don't know if that's the right term) so I should be spending a lot less in the coming months.

I don't mind spending more now because it's keeping me off cigarettes and in the end it will pay for itself in more ways than just a return on your monetary investment.

I'm currently vaping on the protank mini 2 and like it well enough. I do not much care for the wick/coil system so I bought an ibtank for the provari. I think it's going to work out much better.

I think the juice is going to be my downfall. I've put so many hours into researching the right mod for me so I feel like I got that down. But now it's time to focus on the limitless options for juice!

Doesn't have to be more expensive. Get a Kayfun for your Provari then you don't need nothing else. OK...Kanthal and cotton. Then check out DIY juice. You'll save a ton. My numbers in my sig include DIY juice for 5 people. Yeah, I'm saving.

I see myself going down this road in the very near future!

40yrs old. Smoked a PAD, most often a little more for the last 24 years. Got my MVP 2.0 on 6/6/14, and haven't had an analog since. 6-weeks smoke free. Cravings were tough the first couple of weeks, but a few flavors with 24mg of nicotine was just enough to get me through them. Still have cravings, but nowhere near as often or as "intense".

This forum has been an invaluable resource.

For me too the taste of the juice has been a problem for a long time, until I tried the neutral bases without flavors! :)

Most of flavorings tire me after the first five minutes. I think that it is not mandatory to use liquid with aromas, which are often not tolerable in everyday use. For this reason I buy only e-liquid base without flavorings, so that I do not get tired over time, for years now I'm satisfied.

Edit:
50, Male
smoked during 30 years
vaping since 2009
