Hello all. New to the forums here. Today I bought my first e-cig and I love it so far. However I ran into a little problem. The first juice I bought had nicotine in it and I was unaware of it. As soon as I found out I went out to my local smoke shop and picked up some juice with 0 nicotine in it which is what I originally intended for. However after taking out the original juice and putting the new one in I can still taste the nicotine. I even cleaned it out with water and paper towel method, but it's still there. Anyway to fully remove it? Thanks

That depends on your system. If you are using a tank I would suggest giving the whole thing a nice cleaning with hot water and maybe changing the atomizer. If you are using a rba, you might consider pulling out the wicks, burning the coils and using new wicks. Honestly I cant imagine after a good cleaning enough of the old juice would remain after a couple of puffs. Gas station, and tobacco store e-juice is usually very high in pg which could give it a harsh taste. What tank are you using and what e-juice brand are you using?

I have soaked my tank parts in hot water for about 20 minutes and that usually works pretty good.
There are a few flavours that seem to really stick and get entrenched into the entire tank (Root beer as an example)
Soaking all the parts in IPA (rubbing alcohol) over night and rinsing everything really well is my best solution for stubborn flavours.

After really cleaning the tank well... replacing the coil is the only solution I have found to get all the previous flavour removed.

Welcome to ECF!

To be completely honest, Nicotine has little to no discernable taste. What you could be experiencing is the throat kick from your juice that is attributed from a higher ratio of Propylene Glycol (PG) in your specific flavor. One of the telltale signs you're taking in too much nicotine is the nausea that comes from chain vaping. Perhaps dehydration? In any case, unless your past juice was 24mg/ml or higher; you shouldn't be having any runoff nic side effects from your last juice.

Depending on your setup, you may be looking at a few things:

- Clearomizer / Cartomizer - The liquid inside your wicking material still has the old juice in it. Wash/clean the coil if you can't replace it immediately. Run the new juice through it after letting it sit for a few minutes.

- Rebuildable Tank/Dripping Atomizer - On the off chance you're on a rebuildable setup, just clean out the chamber, replace the wick and coil.

Keep in mind some people are a little intolerant to PG. Some previously decade long chain smokers report vaping is "too rough" because of acid reflux, or even slight food allergies. I'd advise just experimenting with juice samples, look for juice that's higher in VG, and make sure everything is nic free.

Hope this helps!

Nicotine should not have any detectable flavor in an e-juice. In my experience e-juice from tobacco stores, and gas stations is very high in Propylene Glycol which makes for a very rough vape. Vaporin does not list the concentration of pg/vg. Propylene Glycol is thinner than vegetable glycerin, making it better for smaller cheaper atomizers, meaning it is likely that you are vaping a high pg content e-juice.

That said, I highly advise against using Isopropyl Alcohol when cleaning tanks. Warm-hot water will clean e-juice just fine, I wouldn't even use soap, just water. I would suggest researching the pg/vg ratios, and possible ordering/buying a new ejuice to start.
