    Update: Nov 2011
In the latest version of the vBulletin forum software we use, the Social Groups functionality has been removed. We are in the process of having the software re-coded to re-enable the Social Groups. We expect this to be completed by the end of November 2011. We apologise but until then, the Social Groups will not work correctly.

    Joining a Social Group
To join a Group: go to their thread in the General board (or elsewhere if it is not in that forum), and ask to join. Groups with a thread but not a forum are probably new and just starting up.

To join a social group that has a forum: go to that forum. Some are open and you can post in there.

To join a private group forum: go to that forum. If private, at the foot you will see the list of Mods for that board. The first one listed is in red. That is the group founder - PM them and ask to join.

    Creating a new Social Group
To create a Social Group: go to this page:

..and to the link at the bottom left of the page. There you may create the group.

To get members to join up
Start a thread in the General forum (or The Lounge), titled with the group name, and ask for people to join. For example, Butte City Vapers - Join Here. Discuss the Group's theme in that thread. Keep the thread going and get more people in.

    To start your own forum
When you have enough members (a total of 6 members), a forum will be created automatically by the forum software, vBulletin. As the founder, you will be assigned as the Moderator for that group forum.

To set the forum as private: you can adjust the forum settings yourself.

If a social group forum receives no posts for 6 weeks, it will be closed. Open forums will have their posts transferred to a General forum thread. Private forums will be set as invisible.
