LOL! The wonderful thing about a forum full of smokers and former smokers? There's not a person here that doesn't understand how hard it can be to change habits. You managed to conquer smoking; you'll conquer this, too. :thumb:
That's an excellent point, Jo. I recently did something that I never in a million years thought I could. The sky's the limit. :)

Jo's right, NSG. You can do it!

First off..BEAUTIFUL DANE!!!!! I had 7 danes in my life and not one blue merele, but ONE day Ill have one ;)

Abt the first prOn Chuck..lol...if I didnt know any better Id say Dennis or MM ordered that one

Im in my room and had to check in but gotta be off to bed now to be up for my training in the AM so hello, good day and goodnight to ALL ;)

ps-NSG...you dont always lose rt away and if ur adding excercise, you gain muscle weight and lose fat together so lbs may not always fall at the scale... I lifted weights for 12 yrs and after my accident 6 yrs ago, I havent been able to lift...guess what? my muscle turned to fat qwiker than flies will cling to shi....
BUT-Ive started a regemin using a total gym (uses body weight - better than free weights bc t only allows for what ur body is meant to already handle, but reps will add muscle and tone ;)) Oh yeah, got it for $29 at play it again aports :D
using that, and 7-10min on an eliptical a day and Im noticing vast improvements! You can, will, and ARE doing it! :) if your eating healthy, you are healthy bc you are what u eat, rt?!?! ;)

Hey MM, where have you run off to?

Since I've seen yours, I'll show you mine....

Well, sometimes dim lit rooms causes sense of fashion to be diminished. Or, maybe they feel like they need to stick out. Maybe someone said...."Hey, that's sexy" or something weird like that.

But, you probably wouldn't catch me dead in either of those outfits.

That would be funny though. Me, in that outfit with my boots and hat doing a kick.
hell, ill wear fishnets and heels to that party,:lol::lol::lol:

That eliminates me. I do not willingly stand in front of a camera.

Amy, those dogs are gorgeous. Names please.

Me either Poeia. I thought about that, and it would be way too easy to cheat. It would have to be on honor system, and while I know most Chuckleheads are honest people, I would imagine there would be droves of people coming in that would have no qualms about cheating.

EDIT: The only way I'd see that it would work would be to weigh in, calculate BMI and send a before picture dated somehow. These results and pics would not be posted publicly but sent to one trustworthy person.. then the results would be posted by that person, not stating what the original or finishing BMI was but the difference.

The wonderful world of dieting. It is never ending for some of us. I hit my forties and I can't just watch what I eat for a few weeks and drop some poundage anymore. I've also developed what my hubby calls muffin top. I always had a tiny waist and damn if that is not dissapearing.

CTJ and some of the others are right. Up your vitamins and exercise and don't look at the scale. I am a fine one to talk, terrible about taking any type of pills and my retail job usually has me eating like crap all the time. Now that I am vaping I am amazingly eating a fuzz better, not there yet but I'll get there. It's all about small steps.

What does help, and I've been meaning to get back to it, aloe vera juice. Taste like skunkass but not bad if you mix it with a tiny bit of juice. Great appetite suprressant, regulates you and is good for hair growth. Drink a serving of it before dinner and then work to other meals.

I am finding at this stage in life, smaller goals are the best. Less dissapointment and easier to reach. There is no magic wand with anything.

I have now been job eliminated from the same job for the second time in 18 months. In my 9 years at U.S. News & World Report, Market Research went from a 3 person department to just me. I was job eliminated as of December 2008. But my boss pointed out to the powers that be that, although they were not going to be buying any new research studies, there were still some they owned and might as well get use out of. So I got a package and became a part-time employee -- 2 days a week.

The reason was that the focus was going to be completely on the Internet. Last year they learned that Internet advertising doesn't pay enough to cover the costs while print does. So they were going to buy some print research again. Instead, on Friday, they got rid of the entire Marketing dept including my boss and a ton of other people.

So, as I Monday I'll be on unemployment and my health insurance runs out in May.

Good times.

I just got the boot today myself. I was a chef at a local brewery untill today. They fired me and now my kitchen manager quit because of it as well (I was his best employee.) Small world. I know what your going through.

Wow. That SUCKS! I wish you both the best.

My situation is bad, but not quite that bad. Sort of a slow decline in business, down to about 45% of where I was 18 months ago. Oh well. I could go on and on. Hopefully this economy will pull out of this dive, but it's not looking too promising.

Meanwhile, I have learned some creative things to do with ramen. ;) I have a tendency to joke my way thru tough times.

jctennis lots of empathy coming your way.

Ralph, I'm not going to be homeless, I'm not going to starve and I'm saving $30 a day by not smoking. If I find new health insurance, all will be good (or at least tolerable). Unfortunately, I'm no insurance company's dream client.

My 2 good things today.
1) My desk is littered with 19 pretty atomizers. I finally have my shipment.

2) By the time I finished talking to everyone on the phone, I grabbed my PV and ran for the dentist. It wasn't working well and halfway there I realized that I had been dripping and forgot to change back to a full cart before I left. But I survived 3 hours without it (including the 10 minutes right after I finished my 1 hour dental appointment.) Wednesday I start cutting all my liquids down to 12-18 MG.

And one thing that ticks me off no end. Every time I tell someone who has been pushing me to quit smoking that I finally did, the first two things out of their mouths are "congratulations" and "so now when are you going to stop using that thing?"

I have been trying to quit for decades. Do you think you could just be happy for me for -- I don't know, maybe 24 whole hours -- before you start criticizing again?

I usually just tell them that my vaping is here to stay. That I enjoy it. That it is now a hobby and my new obsession. That I might try and cut back on the nicotine. I get very little positive feedback for quitting a 32 year habit. But if I started back up I would hear about it like there is no tomorrow. How quickly they forget how badly we reeked when we were smoking.

I'm sorry to hear that and hope that things turn around for both of you soon.
