Thanks. I've just been grasping the tank top with the base of my vape tweezers. Like these:

I am partial to a pair of hemostats (short ones, though I guess the long ones might give you more leverage, but you don't need much) to unscrew an irritating little coil that gets stuck in whatever tank (usually the Nautilus BVC coils) but it pretty much works on most tanks I have that take drop in coils....
