Ditched dispoables for the first time about 2 months ago and got into rebuildables/diy juice using posts from this forum. Figured it was time I signed up!

Probably more of a sanity check; I've been using an Asgard Mini with freebase so far, but want to get into stronger mtl stuff. I ordered some salt nic from Central Vapors, but not sure which device to choose. I've been looking at MTL RTAs, as well as pod devices like the Xros line. Assuming the same wattage, resistance and vg/pg ratio, is there any discernible vaping difference between an mtl rta and a pod system? I'd much rather continue building coils, while getting that same, or better, mtl experience. Any advice appreciated!

Glad to be here!

    Welcome to ecf @bit_Shwifted :D

Not really. Some pod systems also allow restricted direct to lung, and straight up DL, like the ARGUS A I'm now enjoying. I also use the Zenith II with the Innokin Z-coils at 1.2 ohms. My main RTA's before that were the Kayfun styled Prime and the Vandy Vape Berzerker MTL atomizers.

Depends on the system. They’ve both been around a Long time. Some pods are button only, some are automatic or button some are just auto. They will have different types of tanks. Some are cheaper than vaping disposable, some aren’t.
with an auto pod generally the auto switch is part of the disposable pod, but that may not always be true.

the aesgard mini looks likE a DL RDA. The only MITL RDA I personally have ever seen is the BRSKR mini. MTL atties have smaller mouthpieces, draw, coil size, chamber size, and higher ohms and nic%levels. You and get everything but the chamber size with adaptors and whatnot generally.a dead rabbit solo can do it. I squonk and find it really handy for rdas thought it makes the mod larger

One thing about pods. Most of them leak or eventually will, especially the ones you have to fill from the bottom. On the upside, they are small, discreet and the coils usually run above 1 ohm with lower wattage. They can handle salt or freebase. If you want to vape high nicotine content, use salt nicotine as its smoother at higher percentages. With freebase nicotine, anything over 24mg or 2.4% will be pretty harsh. If you want to DIY, dont get overly worried about PG/VG ratio so much. Larger sized sub ohm tanks might leak if the mix is too heavy on the PG side and some smaller setups might not wick as well with VG heavy mixes but finding that balance is easy, just watch how your setup reacts. Nearly everything I learned about vaping I learned here and also by just jumping right in and doing. I vaped probably 4 months and I started making own juice and coils. With coils, keep it simple. Kanthal works just fine. I have never used other metals though. Again, I like simple. Ive messed with twisted wires and such but never could see much benefit over a plain round wire coil.

i haven’t owned enough pods to have developed an opinion, but that doesn’t sound wrong. Of the 3 I have had, 2 have leaked. Each different RTA needs to be handled differently and wicked correctly to avoid that, and of course you can overfill an RDA as well. This is an advantage of disposables. You pay so very much money to get it though and simply reading up on how to correctly refill and rewick a given rebuildable works as well. Any rebuildable can leak if you screw up hard enough. I keep a travel pack of Kleenex around, you know, for close encounters. (Do alien2 jokes even play anymore?)
